Catch up on the latest innovations from SAWC Fall!

The Symposium on Advanced Wound Care (SAWC) continues to lead the way in driving innovations that improve patient outcomes. During SAWC Fall 2024 in Las Vegas, Kerecis—one of our valued longtime supporters and sponsors—presented the largest randomized controlled trial on diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs), now published in 𝑁𝑒𝑤 𝐸𝑛𝑔𝑙𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝐽𝑜𝑢𝑟𝑛𝑎𝑙 𝑜𝑓 𝑀𝑒𝑑𝑖𝑐𝑖𝑛𝑒 𝐸𝑣𝑖𝑑𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒. The study proves that fish-skin grafts significantly outperform standard care, offering faster healing and better results for patients. 📊 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐎𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐲: ▫️ 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬: At 16 weeks, 44% of DFUs treated with fish-skin grafts had healed, compared to 26.4% with standard care. ▫️ 𝐅𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠: Wounds treated with fish-skin grafts healed two weeks earlier on average, offering a 1.6x greater chance of wound closure at any time point. ▫️ 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐱 𝐃𝐅𝐔𝐬: Fish-skin grafts provided superior healing for University of Texas grade 2 and 3 DFUs, severe wounds often resistant to standard treatments. At SAWC, we’re proud to enable the adoption of groundbreaking innovations like these that transform lives.
