➡️NEW RESEARCH: Researchers from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Kungliga Tekniska högskolan), in collaboration with the Clean Cooking Alliance (CCA), the World Resources Institute (WRI) and Nepal Open University (NOU) published an innovative study which can support the clean cooking transition in Nepal. 🥘The research underscores the substantial health, climate, and social benefits associated with the shift to #CleanCooking solutions in Nepal. 🛰️The study makes use of #geospatial modelling methods, integrating the open-source clean cooking geospatial assessment tool #OnStove and analysis based on WRI’s Energy Access Explorer tool. EAE Nepal integrates cost-benefit analysis for clean cooking through the OnStove tool, which, determines the net-benefit value of different cooking stoves using spatial data. 👉The tool accounts for four key benefits: reduced morbidity; mortality; emissions and time saved; as well as three costs: capital, fuel and operation and maintenance. The study showed electric cooking to be the technology that can provide the highest benefits to society, which aligns well with the Government of Nepal (GoN)’s ambitions to reach 25% of population cooking with electricity by 2030. 📣Exciting News! The Energy Access Explorer (EAE) is being customized for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to support the country’s bold vision for #electrification and #energytransition. The EAE will play a key role in advancing the government’s vision for a sustainable and inclusive energy future. This initiative unites a diverse group of stakeholders, including AUTORITE DE REGULATION DU SECTEUR DE L'ELECTRICITE / RDC, Congolese Association for Renewable and Decentralized Energies, international organizations, academics, research centers, private sector operators and civil society organizations. By bringing together these key players, the Energy Access Explorer will offer accurate, customized data that informs energy planning and helps the DRC achieve its energy transition goals. This data will be essential in identifying underserved areas, visualizing existing energy projects, and attracting new investments into the sector. 🙌Stay tuned for more updates as we continue working towards a transformative platform to drive DRC’s energy transition.

Reading, Pennsylvania is poised to save hundreds of thousands of dollars annually on #energy costs with new rooftop and parking lot #solar installations. This project leverages an energy savings performance contract (ESPC) that they found guidance on during a Clean Energy to Communities (C2C) peer-learning cohort. ☀️ Reading’s Sustainability Manager Bethany Ayers-Fisher, said, “At the beginning of the cohort, the ESPC felt like a pipe dream. And now we see, yes, we can do this.” This year, Reading will begin construction on the 1.78-MW rooftop and parking lot solar installation, marking a significant step toward its goal of achieving 100% renewable energy. ⚡📈 Learn more about how Reading’s cohort participation helped advance its clean energy goals ➡️
