Next week we’ll unveil how we are innovating the design and construction process at Autodesk University The Design & Make Conference. At our hero exhibit, we will demonstrate the potential of our groundbreaking kit-of-parts approach and the projects we’re delivering with it, including Manchester Airport with contractor partner Mace. We also have two WSP experts, Roy Qian and Vijaya Adigopula, presenting how they use digital technologies to design and manage buildings more efficiently. If you’re attending the conference, we welcome you to visit our exhibit and meet our team to discuss how we can transform the construction industry together. https://lnkd.in/ek5T9NjB #AU2024 #Digital #WeAreWSP

How can we shape the buildings we have into the cities we want? WSP’s Retrofitting+ thought leadership series explores how we can retrofit to decarbonize while addressing wider issues such as biodiversity collapse, the housing crisis and social determinants of health. Let’s rethink how we plan, design and build to rejuvenate our cities without exceeding our carbon budget. We had a brilliant week at the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) Conference. This year’s theme ‘New or Renew: Addressing the Density Dilemma’ gave us the chance to reflect on how we are shaping the buildings we have into the cities we want. Here are our highlights: • Exchanging ideas at our Structural Retrofitting Workshop. We discussed the imperative for engineers to be involved from the earliest project stage, the need to embrace every existing building's uniqueness and the ability to adapt should issues arise on site. • 6 engaging WSP presentations covering whole-life carbon optioneering, the future energy demand of cities, Brazil’s next supertall and 3 award-winning projects: One Za’abeel in Dubai, Paddington Square in London and a new hybrid CLT-Steel floor system we invented. • Celebrating Awards of Excellence for 19 projects we’ve been involved with, including overall category wins for The Brooklyn Tower (Best Tall Building 300+ meters), One Za’abeel (Best Tall Building Middle East & Africa), Paddington Square (Façade Award), the Centre Block Rehabilitation (Future Project Award) and One World Trade Centre (10-Year Award). • Touring our local projects including Elephant & Castle Town Centre, The Leadenhall Building and The Shard. • Hosting our clients and partners at our newly refurbished Chancery Lane office. Thank you to our team, clients, collaborators and peers involved with these activities. It’s great to be part of this expert community of city shapers. #WeAreWSP #CTBUH #Awards #Engineering

This week some of our mission critical professionals attended #DCDConnect London to discuss important issues on how AI is reshaping the data centre industry, power challenges, cooling trends, and key sustainability mandates. One of the key industry challenges is attracting and retaining talent. Brenda St John Brown, Dean of WSP Mission Critical Education, discussed how investing in our people and providing consistent educational programs, creating career pathways, and mentoring the next generation of leaders is making a difference. Brenda and Anna Chrabol also attended the #iMWomenEMEA Luncheon to participate in a panel discussion on effective networking and insights on workforce trends. #ResponsivebyDesign #MissionCritical #DataCentres DatacenterDynamics
