"The game, for us, is now an element of resistance." WAR GAME: The Making of S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 dives into the profound narrative of creation amidst destruction, chronicling how a Ukrainian video game developer’s quest to complete an internationally anticipated sequel becomes a defiant act of resilience and artistry in the face of attack from Russia. In what is undoubtedly one of the greatest challenges a video game studio has ever faced, the developers at GSC Game World work under the ravaging conditions of war to bring the highly anticipated game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl to life. As they battle the emotional toll of displacement, personal loss, and political upheaval, they must find the strength and resilience to keep their artistic vision alive. With personal stories of sacrifice, determination, and hope, the film offers a powerful insight into the human toll of conflict and the transformative power of creative expression. As the holiday season gets closer, we wanted to take some time to look back on the year thus far and reflect on all the amazing events we were a part of. These events are a celebration of the one thing that brings us together: gaming. We are proud of all the individuals and studios working hard to bring new experiences to life for all the fans and communities out there. There are still more events on the horizon, so we’re looking forward to the months ahead and hope to see some new, and familiar, faces soon!

To get ahead in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is to play all the angles. With the new Corner Slicing feature, you can do just that. Corner Slicing is an immersive mechanic that shows your operator moving their weapon into a more tactical angle as you approach an obstacle’s edge or corner. As you approach a corner, your weapon will begin to tilt with the sights in the direction of the opening or sightline where you should be aiming. Naturally, Corner Slicing will engage when you approach any corner. Learn more here: xbx.lv/3TKH1LE

When everybody plays, we all win. The third-annual One Big Game fundraiser—a 24-hour soccer match between UK video game developers—kicks off today. The third-annual event will raise money for SpecialEffect, a charity seeking to level the playing field for all gamers with disabilities. Teams from games companies such as Activision, Jagex, Ninja Theory, Ubisoft and more will come together to decide once and for all (or for at least a year) who is better: Team Red or Team Blue. All teams taking part will be assigned to represent one of those colors and will play in a full 90-minute match, where the final score will contribute to the overall Team Red and Team Blue tallies. One Big Game has come a long way since its inception in 2020: what started off as a FIFA-based rivalry between Xbox Game Studios Rare and Playground Games evolved into a real-life football face-off between the teams in 2021, and has now transformed into a multi-studio, 24-hour effort played and broadcast live from St. George’s Park. The sporting showdown starts at 11am PT on Sept. 25, with coverage beginning on the Xbox On Twitch channel from 10:30am PT—and then at approximately 11:15am PT on Sept. 26.
