🚨 DoD’s CMMC Program Final Rule Released!🚨 The Department of Defense (DoD) has just published the final rule establishing the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Program, a critical step in ensuring the protection of Federal Contract Information (FCI) and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). 🎯 This rule is designed to verify that defense contractors have implemented the necessary security measures for safeguarding sensitive information. With tiered certification levels, phased implementation, and assessments led by CMMC Third-Party Assessment Organizations (C3PAOs), the program aims to raise the cybersecurity bar across the defense industrial base (DIB). The rule was released for public inspection on the Federal Register on Friday, and the Defense Department anticipates officially publishing the new guidelines on Oct. 15, according to a Pentagon press release. 📅 Key highlights include: 🔹CMMC Level Requirements – Contractors must meet progressively stringent cybersecurity standards, from Level 1 self-assessments to full Level 3 DIBCAC-led audits for critical programs. 🔹Subcontractor Flow-down – Security requirements will flow down to all tiers in the supply chain, ensuring that even the smallest defense contractors play their part in securing DoD information. 🔹Phased Rollout – The CMMC program will phase in over three years, giving organizations time to adapt to evolving cybersecurity threats. As cyber threats against the DIB evolve, the DoD’s CMMC program is crucial in safeguarding sensitive information that directly impacts national security.
