According to real estate records, a luxury mansion in the Pacific Heights community of San Francisco was recently sold for about $70 million, setting a new record for residential prices in the city.

According to reports over the weekend, the buyer of this mansion is Laurene Powell Jobs, the widow of late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs.

According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Laurene Powell Jobs has a net worth of $11.4 billion. This deal continues her quest for buying California properties. Earlier this year, she bought a $94 million property in Malibu, Southern California. This is her fourth property purchase in the Los Angeles area since 2015.

Located in the Pacific Heights neighborhood of San Francisco, this mansion is situated on the so-called Billionaire's Row. Its sellers are Sloan Lindemann Barnett and Roger Barnett, who bought the mansion for $33 million in 2011. Sloan is the daughter of billionaire George Lindemann, and Roger Barnett is the CEO of the health products company Shaklee.

This San Francisco property was not publicly listed for sale, and the news of this off-market transaction surprised several high-end real estate brokers in the city.

This Spanish Renaissance-style mansion was originally built in 1916 and has four floors, a two-story courtyard with a glass roof on top. According to a 2020 report by Archit, the Barnetts hired architect and designer Peter Marino to lead the restoration work on the house, and installed four levels of glass on the north side of the house, providing a panoramic view of San Francisco Bay, the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island and the city skyline.

The previous record price for a luxury home in the San Francisco market was $43.5 million for another property in Pacific Heights in 2021.
