About this mod
Smoothing edits of the default face textures to remove excessive wrinkles/scars from the masculine options (to have them more closely match with the appearance of the feminine faces in terms of age/scarring).
Includes options for all races except for Dragonborn.
Optional Files for some named characters now included.
- Permissions and credits
While I had previously shared these edits in individual mods based on the race that was edited, it feels more appropriate now to just share them all in one place and let you decide to download the parts and mix-and-match as you wish from the one place. It also means that if I do continue to make edits, I can just add new files here instead of making more new mods.
For those who have downloaded those separate mods prior to this - the files provided here include the edited CLEA and HMVY files that I previously had not touched. Ergo, I would suggest downloading this version if you'd like a probably more professional final product... I'm learning, and hopefully that shows. My apologies for any inconvenience with that.
No meshes have been edited in this mod, only texture files to alter the appearance of the default meshes.
Using these files will alter the appearance of both the player character, and also the NPCs who share the same texture files as those available in the character creator.
Currently, these heads have been edited:
- 6/6 Masculine Dwarf
- 6/6 Masculine Halflings
- 5/5 Masculine Half-Orc
- 8/9 Masculine Githyanki [the one unedited head was what I was using as a baseline to try to match]
- 5/5 Masculine Gnome
- 7/7 Masculine Elf/Drow (works for T2 and T4 body types)
- 6/6 Masculine Half Elf (works for T2 and T4 body types)
- 6/6 Masculine Tiefling (works for T2 and T4 body types)
- 8/8 Masculine Human (works for T2 and T4 body types)
- Astarion - he was supposed to have been changed at a young age by elven standards, now his face reflects that more
- additional version that combines this mods smoothing with That Unsightly Mole's edit by mithran56 [many thanks for the permission to make the mashup] - Gale - including a version that removes the heavy veins around his eyes
- Wyll - who doesn't need much, but I made an edit anyway for those deeper under-eye lines
- Rolan - he may be the eldest of the sibling trio, but he can get some of the smoothing too to match the other tiefs
- Gortash - the narrator refers to him as "a handsome young man" in act 1, and I can at least try to make that more truthful
=====
There are two versions available for the edited files for Dwarves/Halflings/Half-Orcs/Githyanki:
V1 - leaves some aspects of creases/lines while still smoothing out the more significant problem areas
V2 - even smoother, removal of excessive stubble/scarring when applicable
Only one version of the edits per face type can exist at once, as such these edits will not be compatible with any other mod which makes changes to the associated face's CLEA, HMVY, or NM files.
[Other races have only a V1 edit, simply because there is less visible change to be had and making a secondary version feels superfluous]

How To Install :
- Extract the contents of the selected archive
- Copy the "Generated" folder inside the unarchived mod
- Paste the "Generated" folder inside the "Data" folder in your Baldur's Gate 3 install location
[If you are being prompted to overwrite existing files, you already have an edit to one or more of the faces. Selecting "yes" to overwriting those files means that you are choosing to use these mod files instead of what was previously there.]
If you are attempting to mix-and-match edits (eg, using a V2 Head 3 while using V1 edits for the rest of that race's options), you can do that via downloading both versions of the mod, installing the version you want for most of the edits first, then only copying/overwriting the files of the head you want from the other version after.
Alternatively, if you're aware of the filepaths and only wish to use specific heads in one of the edits, you can copy over only the parts you wish to use so long as the filepath remains the same as presented in the provided folder.
For example, if you only want to use the first head that appears in character creator for a dwarf edit, you can find the files in this location:
Generated\Public\Shared\Assets\Characters\_Models\Dwarves\DWR_M_NKD\DWR_M_Head_A\Resources
- and then you can recreate that filepath in your games Data folder and only copy/paste those files.
How To Uninstall:
- Remove the files associated with the mod from within the "Data" folder
Tedious? Yes, but that's the way it goes, unfortunately.
