This Baldur's Gate 3 mod introduces a new class to the gameThe Red Mage from Final Fantasy XIVThis rendition of the
Red Mage aims to faithfully replicate what the
Red Mage is in Final Fantasy XIV while adapting it to the Baldur's Gate 3 system. I've endeavored to balance the class to seamlessly integrate it into the game while maintaining strong similarities to its Final Fantasy XIV counterpart.
GameplayThe
Red Mage class in this Baldur's Gate 3 mod embodies versatility, drawing upon both black (Lightning and Fire) and white (Thunder, Acid and Radiant) magic, and wielding a rapier for melee combat, resembling its Final Fantasy XIV counterpart. It operates on a unique system that balances black and white magic, combining them to generate Red Magic. This Red Magic resource fuels the abilities of two distinct subclasses.
* The
Duelist subclass focuses on close-quarter combat, mirroring the traditional approach seen in Final Fantasy 14, employing swift, melee strikes, and magically enhanced techniques.
* The
Tactician subclass, a concept stemming from a fusion of abilities found in previous Final Fantasy games, emphasizes bolstering allies through a repertoire of strategic spells. It utilizes the accumulated Red Magic to apply various buffs and supportive enchantments, enhancing the capabilities of the party.
The passive ability "Dual Cast" for the
Red Mage in Baldur's Gate 3 is envisioned as follows: Whenever the
Red Mage casts a spell, they can cast another spell immediately without expending an action or bonus action point.
The
Red Mage exhibits remarkable versatility, operating both as a ranged magic wielder and capable of minor restorative abilities through a selection of healing spells. This duality extends further, offering the choice between executing spell sequences in close combat with their blade or employing a repertoire of supportive spells to augment and empower their allies. This unique blend allows the
Red Mage to seamlessly transition between offense, defense, and support, making them a dynamic force on the battlefield in Baldur's Gate 3.

Future UpdatesMy policy is to continually refine and enhance the
Red Mage class. This includes bug fixes, the addition of new features, general improvements to the class's mechanics, and ensuring an overall more enjoyable gameplay experience. The goal is to maintain a balanced class, taking into account feedback from the community to fine-tune and adjust its capabilities.
However, it's important to note that adding new spells for levels 13 to 20 is unlikely to occur, as the current scope of the mod doesn't encompass this.
Your understanding and continued support in shaping the
Red Mage class are greatly appreciated.
