Invisible Head and Body for Icon Making

A very small and crude mod, that replaces HUM_F_NKD_Body_A, HUM_M_NKD_Body_A, ELF_F_NKD_Head_D and ELF_M_NKD_Head_F GR2 3D model files with blank files of the same name. This results in every character using those assets appearing invisible. These assets are used by the default Female Elf and default Male Elf appearances.

The purpose of this mod is to serve as a modder's resource for making equipment icons. All helmet, belt, boot, cloak and some armor slot item icons in my Basket Full of Equipment mods were created using these files. This is currently the best way to make these kinds of custom icons.

How to

To make these kinds of custom equipment icons, You need at least one other mod in addition to this one. Custom Backdrops, for the blue screen effect. You used to need ImprovedUI for Hide UI, but BG3 now has it on its own, just hit F10. You also need a mod that contains the Shared Equipment.txt file for adding your items to the character creator, or you can extract the file yourself from the Shared.PAK.

BG3 uses 380x380 resolution for the tooltip icons and 64x64 for the inventory icons. This means that you may need a higher resolution than 1080p for the screenshots to get the items in high quality 380x380 resolutions without visible aliasing. Headwear has the lowest resolution requirements, as you can zoom closest to them, and footwear has the highest because you can't.

If you do not have a 1440p or 4K monitor, you can use NVIDIA or AMD tools to get a higher resolution with a 1080p monitor. NVIDIA calls it DSR or Dynamic Super Resolution. If the resolution is still too low, or you do not wish to mess with the resolutions, you could use one of the free online image upscalers to get a decent looking image. There are also unofficial GPU tools that allows you make any custom resolution, for NVIDIA at least.

BG3 character creator has three levels of zoom, but you can also take screenshots during the zoom in.

Installation

Extract the RAR file to steamapps\common\Baldurs Gate 3\Data (for Steam).

Uninstallation

Delete the HUM_F_NKD_Body_A, HUM_M_NKD_Body_A, ELF_F_NKD_Head_D and ELF_M_NKD_Head_F GR2 3D model files.

If you do not have any other loose files in the Generated folders, then you can delete all folders in Baldurs Gate 3\Data\Generated\
