Warlock: The Warrior

You are the champion of a powerful, otherwordly warrior, who has bestowed you with martial prowess that will aid you in battles to come.

This mod adds a new, homebrew subclass to the Warlock. Its main focus is to improve the Warlock's damage and survivability through its features. It's heavily inspired by the Undead subclass in that its core feature is a transformation, albeit with some changes to both flavour and mechanics. I tried balancing it the best I could confronting several D&D source materials, but I believe it's on the stronger side mainly due to the expanded spell list being quite powerful. Feel free to give any suggestion about power level and feature implementation.

This mod is still a work in progress and I'm still testing it, so you're welcome to report any issue that you encounter.

Expanded Spell List

The Champion lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you.

1st-level spells
  • Compelled Duel

2nd-level spells
  • Blur
  • Spiritual Weapon

3rd-level spells
  • Haste
  • Spirit Guardians

4th-level spells
  • Death Ward
  • Fire Shield

5th-level spells
  • Skill Empowerment

Warrior Training

At 1st level, you acquire the training necessary to effectively arm yourself for battle. You gain proficiency with medium armour, shields, and martial weapons.


Mighty Form

At 1st level, you learn how to manifest your patron’s power. As a bonus action, you can transform for 1 minute. Your transformation ends early if you are incapacitated. You gain the following benefits while transformed:

  • At the end of each of your turns, you gain temporary hit points equal to 1d6 plus half your Warlock level.
  • The first creature you hit on each of your turns with an attack or a spell takes extra force damage equal to your 1d6 plus half your Warlock level.
  • You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed or frightened.

You can transform twice. You regain expended uses when you finish a short or long rest.


Unwavering Champion
At 6th level, the power granted by your patron allows you to defy death. When you are reduced to 0 hit points, you can drop to 1 hit point instead. You can’t use this feature again until you finish a long rest.
Winged Executioner

Starting at 6th level, when you transform using your Mighty Form, you can manifest manifest a pair of feathered wings from your back. While the wings are present, you have a flying speed equal to your current speed. The wings last until your transformation ends.

Notes on implementation: you don't grow wings. Not yet, at least.

Improved Mighty Form

At 10th level, your Mighty Form improves. While you are transformed, the amount of temporary points and damage you deal both increase to 2d6 plus half your Warlock level, and you become immune to being charmed or frightened.
