Swarmkeeper Ranger Subclass (Full Release Ready) ITA
Changelogs
Version 2.5
Cleaned up tooltips to make them less wordy.
Fixed some Compatibility Framework entries.
Version 2.4
Toned down the swarm effects a little since it was annoyingly large.
Finally added the correct version number for the mod manager!
Version 2.3
Decided to buff Writhing Tide a little, since 3m of flight doesn't translate super well into a video game. It's now 6m, which means your means of traversing vertical surfaces is increased, but it's still not as powerful as 9m of flight. Enjoy!
Version 2.2
Fixed Compatibility Framework support.
Tweaked swarm visuals.
Version 2.1
Tweaked a few push/pull effects to be more potent, since the game rounded down certain distances.
Added support for Compatibility Framework. Requires Script Extender to work.
Version 2.0
Most tooltips updated to be less wordy.
Removed my versions of Insect Plague and Arcane Eye since they've been made official now.
Added a few new visuals to Gathered/Mighty Swarm.
Version 1.2
Fixed the teleportation portion of Swarming Dispersal not working properly.
Version 1.1
Added the level 5 spell slot cost for Insect Plague that was missing.
Fixed Gathered Swarm: Attack and Mighty Swarm: Attack hit effects not showing up.
Increased the scale of what Insect Plague spawns to make it easier to estimate how large its area of effect is.
INCLUDES VERSIONS FOR "ATTACK" (LEFT), "MOVE TARGET" (MIDDLE) & "MOVE SELF" (RIGHT)
NOTES
Works like in 5e. The swarm in this mod is an insect swarm with corresponding visuals, since it'd be way too difficult to make another type. This effect is togglable on and off. Note: all of these effects work with both physical and magical ranged and melee attacks, as long as it's an attack roll.
NOTES
A reskinned Mage Hand that looks like the insect swarm that surrounds you with Gathered Swarm. Other than that it's just like your average Mage Hand.
Also adds the following spells at their corresponding levels:
3rd level: Faerie Fire 5th level: Web 9th level: Gaseous Form 13th level: Arcane Eye 17th level: Insect Plague
NOTES
3m of flight isn't as impressive in BG3 as when playing TT D&D, sadly. Since the spell already allows you to hover, difficult terrain and surfaces aren't going to affect you, so the flight from this spell isn't really that impressive. Still, the effects look cool and you can still fly!
To use this flying movement, an additional highlighted Writhing Tide flight spell is unlocked on the far right on your hotbar when you cast the initial spell.
NOTES
Upgrades your Gathered Swarm and replaces the passive and features with these new and improved ones.
Note: the Move Target portion of this feature will always knock the target prone if the target fails its save, so keep that in mind if you're using ranged weapons. Note 2: Half cover doesn't technically exist in the game yet, but I added a new buff that nets you the +2 AC and advantage on Dexterity saving throws like half cover does.
NOTES *Requires a mod that allows levelling past 12.* When using this reaction, you disappear into your swarm until your next turn, during which you can only use the teleport granted by this feature. Sadly it doesn't happen immediately due to limitations in the game's coding, so the effects are simply a bit delayed, much like most reactions in BG3 even after the full release of the game.
Sometimes when using this, the teleportation spell portion won't be added to your hotbar automatically, so make sure you check your spellbook ('K' by default) and place it on your hotbar from there if it doesn't appear.
POTENTIAL ISSUES/DISCLAIMERS
Swarming Dispersal bugs out a bit if you use it when an attack misses you. Since you're supposed to use it when hit by an attack anyway (and you can see if an attack hits every time this spell triggers), I suggest only using it then to limit any strange interactions and effects.
1. Start BG3 Mod Manager and press the "Open Mods Folder" button on the top bar, or press Windows + R and type %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\Mods\. 2. Open "Swarmkeeper.zip" and place "Swarmkeeper.pak" in the Mods folder. 3. Refresh the mod list in BG3 Mod Manager by pressing F5, and move the mod from inactive mods to active mods in the mod manager window. If you encounter any issues, try placing it further down in the load order. Make sure you use the "Public" profile. 4. Click "Save Load Order to File" in the top bar and launch the game.
