The reason for this mod page

Following the reception of the Open Letter written and signed by a group of individual mod creators, unfortunately but understandably FocusBG3 decided to step away from the community for good. I have reached out to him to see if he'd be willing to share the last iterations of his work, so that at least they can be maintained and kept up to date for later patches of the game. He generously agreed to share his work, on the condition that he is not contacted to help support these mods' development. His full statement on the matter can be seen below:

As part of his open permissions, I am reuploading the files here as they are, for convenience and archival purposes. If anyone plans to update or continue development on this mod, please get in touch with me! I don't have ownership of these files, it would just help make sure everything is clearly linked and kept user friendly. Regardless, I will always keep these files up as a resource to fall back on.

General information

For both Miraculous Dyes and Lodestone, FocusCore is a requirement. You will also need to have at least one mod installed that contains a mod fixer. BG3 Mod Manager displays mods that contain a mod fixer if you're unsure that you have any.

If you encounter bugs with these versions I encourage you to check out Volition Cabinet, which is a fork of the FocusCore uploaded here. It's a library intended to be used for Volitio's own mods, so go in with the expectation that it's not developed with Focus' mods in mind. That said, changes made to it may help with resolving bugs with FocusCore, such as the Polychromancer's ring not showing up in your inventory.

Information on Miraculous Dyes

Thanks to raizuto in the comments, we have access to the articles FocusBG3 wrote for Miraculous Dyes!

Additionally, you can find the original mod page's description under the spoiler tag:

Features at a Glance:
  • Create randomized, unique dyes known as Miraculous Dyes.
  • Handcraft dyes with colors you pick using the Designer's Pocket and Infusers.
  • Save and upload dyes from an external file using the Archivist's Pocket.
  • Dye all of your currently equipped gear at once with the Chromatic Amplifier.
  • Dye gear you equip automatically with the Chromatic Resonator.
  • Dye gear individually like you're used to. Miraculous Dyes are infinite use!
  • Compatible with Larian dyes and modded dyes. Use the Chromatic Analyzer to recreate and edit other dyes as Miraculous Dyes.
  • All mod functionality is bundled into a ring, Pledge of Polychrome, that is
added to the host's inventory when loading a campaign.

Getting Started:
Whether you are starting a new campaign or loading a save, the host will receive a Pledge of Polychrome in their inventory. When you equip the ring, you will have two passives and a spell container added to the temporary abilities panel next to your hotbars.

Dyeing Gear:
The two passives are Chromatism and Potent Chromatism, and they are what randomize the dye colors. Activating one of these passives will dye your equipped gear every 1.5 seconds.

Creating a Dye:
When you have create a color scheme you like, you can turn it into a dye by casting Create Miraculous Dye from the Polychromancy spell container. The dye is added to your inventory. You can add all formulated Miraculous Dyes to your inventory, including those created by other players in your campaign, by casting Fill Polychromancer's Satchel. Sorting all the dyes by Type within the Polychromancer's Satchel will sort them numerically!

Using Polychromancer's Tools:
Cast Fill Polychromancer's Satchel to add a special bag to your inventory. This bag comes with a Chromatic Amplifier for mass dyeing gear and a Chromatic Resonator for automatically dyeing newly equipped gear. You can use these tools by choosing the top option from their context menu (right click on PC) or by double clicking them. Insert a dye in the pop-up menu to activate their features. The Chromatic Amplifier and Chromatic Resonator are compatible with Miraculous Dyes and unmodded dyes.

Mastering Polychromancy:
You can cast Polychromantic Attunement to permanently learn the abilities granted by the Pledge of Polychrome. The ring is consumed in the process and you will no longer receive another ring when loading a save. The temporary abilities of the ring are removed and replaced by permanent versions.

Information on Lodestones

For Lodestones, I recommend using it with Caites' Better Inventory UI - Lodestones Icons Addon, which will help you recognize which companion is associated with which lodestone. Also, while this mod is a lot more straightforward in its use, you can find the original description under the spoiler tag:

  • Summon any companion from anywhere without engaging in dialogue.
  • Supports any character that is a permanent party member, including custom origins and hirelings.
  • Unique lodestones for Larian's origins.
  • Lodestones are automatically added and removed as characters permanently join and leave your party.
  • All mod functionality is bundled into a pouch of lodestones that is added to every avatar's inventory when loading a campaign.

Alternative mods
The mods uploaded here are "as-is", and I don't know how long they can stay compatible with the latest version of the game before it'd need a more extensive update. Therefore, I will link to mods here that are viable alternatives to Focus' old mods:

My personal thoughts

I'm not turning on DP for myself on this page, as I'm no programmer so I'm unable to do anything transformative with it. If someone does end up taking over these files' development and do actual transformative work on it, I believe it would be fair to earn income from it, should they wish to. So long as it's all handled with respect and transparency, things will work out I'm sure.

Given that yet again, we lost such a skilled and diligent mod creator due to toxicity, I will aim to moderate the comment section more closely. I'm not going to hide comments expressing disagreement or disapproval, so long as they're respectful and not dismissive, or worse. I do ask everyone though to not rehash the same arguments that are already happening in the Open Faerun comment section. Many of the mod creators who signed the letter are there and engaging with people, if you have any thoughts to share. All that said, if the majority of the comments will be just that and/or trolling, I may end up locking comments for my own peace of mind.

In closing: please be kind, patient, and understanding to the best of your abilities with mod creators! Always important to keep this in mind, but now more than ever so many mod creators volunteering their time feel stressed, anxious, burnt out, and may even be on the verge of quitting, when it's largely just meant to be a creative hobby. They deserve better than that, not just because of the lovely mods they create, but because they're human beings with their own needs and inner worlds.

Thank you for reading, and have a good day!
