Overhaul of Githyanki Ridged Spots (Body and Face)

Makes the spots on Githyanki bodies and faces prominent, affects M/F Githyanki Tavs + Lae'zel's body.

Permissions and credits
Lae'zel's face spots have a noticeable ridge to them and it seems like it has been granted exclusively to her becaue she's the main character
in everyone's story, now YOU can be the side main character in her your own story as well

OVERHAUL
This version is a complete remade of the textures from scratch, the ridges now are on par of Lae'zel's in terms of quality and structure, the seams are improved upon and the alignment is almost the exact.

The change is subtle in screenshots, in gameplay however the light reacts far better than the old version.

The mod has been divided into two parts: This part which tackles vanilla files, and Githyanki Ridged Spots (Body and Face) CUSTOM which tackles more variations made by mods, I made this for the sake of organization and easier troubleshooting.

Don't want Loose Files? Want to have glowing tattoos? With the help of Kaz, this mod has now a VT Edition to be used with Kaz Virtual Tav!


What does this mod do?

This mod modifies both Masc and Fem Githyanki body textures and all vanilla head presets to have ridges to them, making the spots appear more prominent like Lae'zel's vanilla face ridges. They area direct replica of Lae'zel's face ridges with slight artistic liberty, they react to light accordingly and have evident texture feel to them.

The spot ridges are made based off HD Githyanki Body Spot Textures, they should work hand-in-hand basically.

In order to lessen the ridges mismatching* for Githyanki NPCs, I provided files that give correct ridges to certain NPCs that you hold conversations with.

Modder Resource
The Face Textures affects Vanilla Presets only, modded presets have their own files.

Therefore I have provided a .psd resource with the ridges as a resource (alongside body ridges), any modder can feel free to implement this into their Githyanki presets.

  • To install the Face Textures, simply drop the Generated folder in your \SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Baldurs Gate 3\Data PATCH 7 COMPATIBLE
  • To install the Body Textures, Trips' Old Shader Pack (Player Shaders + Companion Shaders for Lae'zel) is a must-requirement, or the body textures will not show up. NOT PATCH 7 COMPATIBLE
  • To install the Body Textures VT, Kaz Virtual Tav is a must-requirement, or the body textures will not show up. Simply drop the Date folder in your \SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Baldurs Gate 3 PATCH 7 COMPATIBLE


  • *Because of the way textures work, the ridges texture does not make account for the spot variation on the face, therefore there is a always chance of encountering an NPC with different ridges and different spots. This is how the engine works, I cannot fix it.
  • In order to minimize the above issue, you can pick the preset you intended your Tav to have and leave the others. keep in mind Kith'rak Voss shares the same spots as Tav, so you can leave his folder be.
  • The same applies for body textures, this issue should not be persistent as with the face textures except with selective NPCs.
  • Lae'zels spots have a reddish hue to them: This is due to Lae'zel not sharing face spots with Tav, but instead it is directly in her face texture. The VT Edition has that effect due to editing the HMVY.
