The Vibrant World Adventure is a full conversion mod for Blade and Sorcery, utilizing HuJohner's Quest Framework to turn the game into a full-scale, RPG-style, open-world adventure with ~8 hours of gameplay content!  This mod has a long list of mod requirements, ensuring that the player has plenty of places to see, people to meet, treasures to find, and mysteries to solve.  This long list of requirements requires a good amount of preparation before this mod can be successfully played.  However, I do hope you find that it is worth it when you experience the adventure.

You begin your adventure in the Market, bustling with villagers and shops.  From this very first moment, you have the freedom to explore the world in any way you wish.   Shop for weapons and armor, explore the countryside, assist villagers retrieve lost items, uncover hidden dungeons, and eventually find your way to the distant Canyon, Citadel, and much much more.

For those who played my Vibrant Market Adventure mod, the first couple hours of the adventure will look familiar, with characters and side quests you recognize.  However, now the scope of the adventure is at least 5 times bigger! There are now many more locations to discover, and journeys to take.  I hope you enjoy this new experience!

With the help of HuJohner's custom dungeon room selector mod framework, this adventure features several dungeons that connect major regions to each other in an open world!  For example, you can find a dungeon that takes you from the market to the Canyon.  You can re-enter that dungeon in the Canyon and fight your way back in the opposite direction to return to the market.   It gives the world a whole new sense of scale.  In addition to dungeons, you can utilize the countryside outside of the Market to travel between major regions on foot!  The Vibrant World is yours to explore!

This mod also features an overarching main quest story, which starts with an explorer named Cartwright who you meet when you first arrive at the Market.  Will you choose to help Cartwright in his quest?  Or will you find others to help?

FEATURES:
  • Over 8 hours of gameplay content throughout the adventure, spanning the Market, Canyon, Citadel, Hermit Island, and much more.
  • Interact with over 25 NPC characters throughout your journey, with full voice-acting and over 150 lines of dialog!
  • Explore an interconnected open world, with connected dungeons and regions
  • Dozens of hidden weapons to discover throughout the world.
  • Overworld enemy spawning system.  Enemies spawn automatically as you explore the overworld outside of the Market!
  • The quest saves your progress - so next time you start the game, your accomplishments and weapons/inventory from your previous session will still be intact.
  • Gain the ability to Fast Travel to locations you have visited before.
  • If you kill a villager, the other villagers will become hostile to you! The only way to fix this is to go to the village Church and repent. Will you be good or evil?

OTHER INSTRUCTIONS / RECOMMENDATIONS:
  • Unzip the Vibrant World ZIP into your mods folder normally, like you do any other mod. Then please ensure you have downloaded all of the other mods listed as requirements for this mod.
  • Try to avoid using the Portable Books mod, which can spoil the special items and skip you to levels instead of finding them naturally.
  • In moments where you need to return to the market, you can use the in-game book to "return home" to get there quickly. However, for an extra challenge, try walking between all of the game's locations, or using the Fast Travel magician that you meet on your quest!
  • Please uninstall any other mods made with the Quest Framework when playing this mod.  There is a chance those other mods may have characters and interactions that interfere with this mod.
  • Please feel free to watch the video in the Videos tab for the first 20 minutes of the main quest, that can also serve as a tutorial of how to progress the main quest.  But only view at your own risk, as it is a spoiler alert to the first couple quests and spoils some of the fun.

KNOWN ISSUES:
  • In the Market and Ruins area, not all interactions/enemy spawns work properly on the first time you spawn into the map on a playthrough.  You must go through a door and come back to those maps for all functions to work correctly. For the market, this affects the enemies that spawn in the overworld. And in the Ruins, this affects pop-up messages that affect the main quest story.
  • Enemy NPCs in certain maps sometimes have super-speed when running toward you to fight.  I believe this is a bug related to MMP, but hopefully shouldn’t disrupt your experience too much.
  • To ensure your main quest goes smoothly, make sure you start your quest by talking to Cartwright, the man with the hat near the stairs when you first begin the quest. This ensures all future interactions go smoothly.
  • The enemies in the countryside overworld are quite wimpy, because the overworld does not have Navmesh.  However, archers will still shoot arrows, and battlemages still use close-range spells, so I focused on them.  If you find NPCs on rock, they have full attack functionality, so will be more difficult!
  • NEW FOR VERSION 1.3: The Valthume Towers map has a picnic blanket area which will cause the player to teleport to the incorrect map.  For the smoothest experience, please avoid going to that picnic blanket and instead use the teleporter message where you entered at the foot of the entrance bridge.

SPECIAL THANKS:
THANK YOU to HuJohner for making this mod and open world possible, and for helping me troubleshoot the different functionalities of the Quest Framework and even updating the framework in collaboration.  You are so appreciated!

THANK YOU to Palpatine and Spec for playtesting my mod and helping me find bugs and issues.

THANK YOU to Neeshka for helping me troubleshoot my audio and background music. Thanks to you, we have nice music to listen to in the market!

TROUBLESHOOTING:
Issue: NPCs don't spawn into the Market when I arrive!
Possible Solution: Ensure you have downloaded the latest update of Quest Framework by HuJohner. This mod is using the features only found in the latest Quest Framework, so using any older versions completely erases the quest.  Also - make sure you have created a new character at the character select screen, and selected “Quests” as the game mode (not Sandbox).

Issue: I get Infinite Loading when trying to go into a map.
Possible Solution: Make sure you have downloaded all of the required mods on the mod list. It's easy to miss a few which can break some of the level spawning.  Levels to be sure to download are Valthume Towers, Frozen Throne, Primortis Canyon, DistrictB5, Moria Map, and Galactic Arena.

Issue: I'm not sure what to do next!
Possible Solution: it's usually a good idea to return to Cartwright, the man with the hat, who is standing near the stairs in the Market. He will help guide you to the next step in the journey. If not, try talking to people or exploring inside houses or in the countryside for new areas to discover!

Issue: You say to talk to Cartwight, the guy in the hat, but he doesn't appear in the Market!  Other NPCs are appearing though.
Possible Solution: This may be because you have the wrong version of the Ethnicity mod installed. Make sure you go the Files page of the Ethnicity mod on Nexus, and choose the version of Ethnicity with "Creature Variants" under Optional Files.   Make sure that is the only version of Ethnicity you have installed.

Issue: The villagers won't stop attacking me!
Possible Solution: This means you must have killed another villager, on purpose or on accident!  You can go to the village church (entrance is near the well), and repent for your sins.  After doing so, everyone should return to normal.

Issue: A character will not talk to me!
Possible Solution: this is almost certainly a bug in my mod! Please send me a DM with details and I will look into it.
