About this mod

Restores the puppy-dog eyed pre-2.0 Johnny head to our favourite tough-guy rockerboy turned tapeworm.

Johnny's new head is a massive improvement texture / shader / mesh quality wise, but as someone who's been pretty attached (understatement) to him for the last few years, the visual changes to his design made me kinda sad. So here, a quick and dirty swap for my fellow johnny lovers of his old assets over his new ones.

Just as a note - I won't tolerate any bashing of either the new or old assets in the comments. The devs worked hard on improving his model and I can genuinely admire that. It just isn't for me, and I'm sharing because it might not be for others. Similiarly, please do not go into the comments section to tell me why you think the new model is better over the old one. The point of this mod is to provide the option to people who do not enjoy the new model like myself. Either download the mod or move on, please and thank you. Everyone is welcome to their own opinion and everyone has the version of Johnny they prefer.

I don't want to have the debate over and over again as to why I prefer the old one, so if you're really curious, here is a copy / paste from an earlier reply as to why:

"For me the juicy contrast for Johnny's visual design was how subtly it reflected his personality; the fact he has to hide these super soft, gentle eyes behind a mask (literally the glasses) all the time to play this tough guy perfectly mirrored his own personality in how he tried to be something he wasn't when deep down, he cared too much about so many things that pushed him over the deep end."

My main point of contention with the new model is the adjustment of his eye shape to make him look harsher and more stern. If you're into that, awesome for you. If you're not, equally awesome. My point is that either you'll like the new model or you won't, so this mod is here in that circumstance. Thanks for reading.

There's three versions:

- v1: [bubble-bones johnny 1.6_newmesh_oldtextures] : restores his old textures while keeping his new head mesh. A bit of a middle ground.

- v2: [bubble-bones johnny 1.6_oldmesh] : restores the old mesh but keeps his new textures. A different flavour of middle ground - it keeps the high quality of the new textures.

- v3: [bubble-bones johnny 1.6_oldmesh_oldtextures] : restores both his old head mesh and his old textures for that sweet puppy dog eyed look.

Optional Files:
The optional files section has been updated to include modular files, which allow you to mix and match which parts of Johnny's two versions you'd like to use most. This allows you to more easily use other mods that edit Johnny's face textures etc. You can use a combination of files from each of these three categories:

Beard Mesh
  • Modular - Beard New - includes only his new improved beard model, so that you can use this in conjunction with the file that brings back his old head. Make sure this loads first.
  • Modular - Beard New (Thicker) - same as above, only I've edited the beard to be much thicker. Very similar to my older mod that did the same thing, only better.

Head Mesh
  • Modular - Old Head Mesh - includes the meshes of his old head, without textures. This includes his beard, so if you'd like to use his new beard, make sure to load one of the above files above it in your mod folder (alphabetically as it is by default, you'll only run into problems if you rename the files).

Textures
  • Modular - Textures New - Eyeliner - includes a new edited set of his textures to give him eyeliner, similar to how Cleaned Up Silverhand does for his old textures.
  • Modular - Textures New - Eyeliner_Cleaned - same as above, only it also cleans up his scratches.
  • Modular - Textures Old - includes his old textures.

If you choose not to install either of the beard files for example, always remember that his new files will load anyhow. My mods only replace what already exists.
