Installation Instructions
For Version 3.1.0

Overview

With v3.0.0 I have once again changed the file system on how the mod is setup and structured, this means that the references within the plugins have all changed. Therefore this article looks to assist players in installing the mod, though primarily on the process to upgrade from v2.x.x (either Standard, Custom or Custom Extra) to v3.0.0 without losing the Squad training perks and upgrades that they've already played for in game. I've done my best to make this user friendly and tried my hardest to not 'ruin' saves, but it's a dark art and there's a possibility that things could go wrong.

Fresh Install (no previous Reinforcement Radio mods installed)

This should be straight forward, download the installer using your preferred mod manager (suggestion is Vortex or MO2) and follow the options. Take note of the warnings and notes that add detail to some of the requirements each edition of the mod has.

That should be it, as long as you have the right mods installed for the version you selected and the Reinforcement Radio plugins load after them you should be good to go. As way of an example this is what the correct load order for the Custom Extra Edition should look like:

Fallout4.esm
DLCCoast.esm
DLCNukaWorld.esm
GhillieModRedux.esp
MilitarizedMinutemen.esp**
F4NVServiceRifleRedux.esp
ReinforcementRadio - Base.esp*
ReinforcementRadio - MilMin - Std.esp*
ReinforcementRadio - MilMin - Custom.esp*
ReinforcementRadio - MilMin - Custom Extra.esp*

*These plugins are all marked as light (esl) to save on load order plugin space.

Specific Installation for Custom and Custom Extra editions

** If using Custom or Custom Extra you require the Militarised Minutemen Patches Addon, you must use the merged plugin version of this mod.

Download and install in this order:

The Patches Addon Loose Files version first.
The Patches Addon Merged Plugin optional file.

Once they are installed using Vortex or MO2 you should disable the MilitarisedMinutemen_PatchesAddon.esp as it has potential to overwrite the leveled list changes made by the Custom and Custom Extra Editions.

Then run the FOMOD for Reinforcement Radio and select your edition following the menus.

Updating from Version 2 to Version 3

There is an additional updater download that looks to convert any old training manuals, radio items, upgrades and perks to the new system that supports the file format for v3.0.0. It doesn't matter whether you are upgrading from a previous Standard, Custom or Custom Extra edition of the mod it will convert items from all regardless.

Please follow the steps below, I have tested this as best I can as an individual, I'd suggest reading through the steps in full and then following along as you go through the upgrade process.

  • Dismiss any reinforcements you may have called in, save your game.
  • Uninstall all elements of whichever version 2 edition you used, including the Core Framework.
  • Download and install using the v3.0.0 installer selecting the edition you want to use*
  • Download and install the Upgrader files using your preferred download manager.
  • Launch the game and load your save file. You should have a series of pop up messages explaining that the mod is being updated.
  • Close the pop-ups, count to 5 (this is to allow quests/scripts to finish) then save your game.
  • Uninstall the upgrader file pack (delete if you want there's no further need for it).
  • Relaunch the game, you will get a warning when loading your save that you require 'MilMin_ReinforcementRadio.esp' and 'ReinforcementRadio - Updater - v2tov3.esp'. This is fine as you're no longer using any of the scripts or items associated with those plugins after the update process.

Process complete! You are now set for v3.0.0 and shouldn't have lost any of the Squad call ins you'd previously unlocked. I (almost) promise this will be the last time I do a major file structure overhaul.

*It shouldn't have to be the same as what you selected for v2, but I'd recommend either selecting the same edition or going 'bigger' (i.e from standard to custom). Going from either Standard, Custom or Custom Extra v2 to Base edition v3.0.0 may cause issues.

If you come across any problems please post in the comments or bug section, clearly stating what version you had, what version you were upgrading to and what happened, as a minimum.

Happy hunting.
