Introduction:

This is a simple patch for the Midwest Power Armor Evolution mod to remove the Midwest Power Armor from the Knights of the East Coast Brotherhood of Steel faction. Leveled List integration from the original mod is retained, only the Power Armor Frame itself is reverted to vanilla values. This allows for compatibility with mods like the Brotherhood Power Armor Overhaul. This patch is an ESL flagged ESP, so it shouldn't take up unwanted space in your load order.

Installation:

  • Hit the "Mod Manager Download" button to download the main file with your mod manager, then complete the install like any other mod.

  • Otherwise use the "Manual Download" button and extract the contents of the compressed file to your game folder.

  • Sort with LOOT or manually place this mod's ESP after Midwest Power Armor Evolution.esp in your load order.

In-Depth Technical Description:

The Midwest Power Armor Evolution mod brings a lovely set of Midwest Power Armor, re-imagined from the isometric 2D graphics of Fallout: Tactics, to the 3D world of The Commonwealth. There's just one caveat: It gives this armor to all of the Knights in the Brotherhood of Steel. This is great if you really like this armor set, but it makes the mod fundamentally incompatible with overhauls attempting to change the armors of The Brotherhood of Steel in the game. Worse, users who were trying to manually remove the leveled list entries from the mod were finding that this left the in-game Knights with nothing but empty PA Frames.

This odd behavior was the result of the Midwest Power Armor Evolution mod implementing a completely new power armor frame and distributing it to the Knights outside of leveled lists. The Leveled List entries then inject the armor into the lists for that new Power Armor Frame item, ensuring that the knights would theoretically spawn in with only the expected armor sets from the Midwest Mod. In practice, other power armor overhaul mods break this behavior by generically injecting Power Armor into all Power Armor Frames regardless of where they come from. However, since the Knight's frame is specifically named by Bethesda, and the Midwest PA Frame is a replacement with a different name, these mods would place a different set of PA on these frames than the ones intended for Knights.

The result? Best case for the Brotherhood Power Armor Overhaul: T-60 becomes standard issue everywhere, with any attempt to fix "leveled lists" resulting in frames with no power armor attached to them at all. This obviously isn't ideal. This mod corrects the problem by reverting the changed PA frame to the vanilla Knight frame that other mods expect, it's a simple edit with a big impact. Now, replacers of all kinds should work with the Midwest Power Armor Evolution mod installed without any issues.

This mod technically also acts as a generic "Leveled List" Remover for the Midwest Power Armor Evolution mod, allowing a completely vanilla install with that mod to have a completely vanilla Brotherhood armor set. This doesn't actually change the Leveled List entries in the original mod, but the layman's terms result effectively works as if it did.
