Uncle Ken’s Keep

The bad news: Uncle Ken’s boy Mitch sent some people over to “help” him at the Visitor Center.

The good news: the new folks modified some weapons, picked over the nearby luxury hotel, and tore down the Visitor Center and built a
fortified tower in its place!

Inspired by medieval timber-built castle keeps, Uncle Ken’s Keep allows Uncle Ken to look down from his lofty perch upon the fog crawlers, wolves, trappers, Daltons, Old Longfellow, and everyone else on the Island who is younger than he is (and therefore inferior). Another possible interpretation of the tower’s aesthetic is that someone took a vacation lodge and dropped it onto the base of an early 20th century monument that you sometimes find in New England.  Both seem to work with the Far Harbor vibe.  There is also a two-family container house in the old parking lot and food vendor under the pavilion.  CWSS Redux, Better Cooking Stations as well as Mid-century Modern Furniture and the Decorations Pack from the Creation Club were used for this settlement, but are not required.

Preparing the site: scrap the entire Visitor Center (you may need to delete several items via console), and store or scrap any crops, junk, debris, furniture and workshops, as well as the cars in the parking lot.  Leave the pavilion in front of the stairs if desired.

P.S. I tried adding a log curtain wall in the style of a motte and bailey castle, but the final effect was a little claustrophobic.

The Hadar Chronicles

The settlements of the Hadar Chronicles are a semi-lore friendly, semi-realistic take on the Wasteland, with an eye towards locally available resources,
materials, furniture, and found objects. The aesthetic is meant to be rough-hewn (but not shoddy) with wood, stone, and recycled metal used for new construction across the settlement, some of it quite massive, ideally creating a believable Wasteland vernacular style.
