Have you ever wanted to upgrade your companions weapons? Well, now you can!
Just equip them with an equivelant weapon, and it will be "swapped" with their hidden companion weapon.
How it Works
The mod consists of a single quest, with a script that registers a listener for when a companion equips a new weapon. If that weapon is the same type as their hidden companion weapon (e.g. equip a 10mm pistol to Piper), the mods from the two weapons will be swapped, and a pop-up message will notify you that the swap has been successful.
If you equip a weapon of a different type, nothing will happen. The weapon must be the same type as their hidden companion weapon.
This does not allow you to replace their hidden weapon, or remove it, or use it yourself.
Yes, this will move Legendary Effects onto companion weapons.
Ammo Swaps
Companion weapons use a special companion ammo type that they never run out of. If you override this by swapping an ammo swap in, it will no longer use that infinite companion ammo type, and use the swapped ammo instead - which it will not have an infinite supply of, which is why, as of v1.02, the script will not allow you to swap weapons with ammo swaps on them.
Compatibility
This mod doesn't modify any existing records, and so it should be compatible with most things out of the box.
Mods that add new companions will need to a patch to register them to the event listener.
Mods that replace a companions hidden weapon with a completely different weapon will require a patch.
-By default, if the script doesn't find the expected companion weapon from the base game, it will add it.
