About this mod

Cooking requires wood for fuel, salt for seasoning, and kitchen utensils for preparation

Did you ever look at [Scrap] items in despair, hoping they would get a use more significant than contributing to some lamp post? Did you use CACO in Skyrim with a Mortar and Pestle requirement on? Did you ever feel like cooking in Fallout 4 could be a bit more difficult?

Well, this mod might help with some of that. This is a major patch, attempting to make several mods work together in a somewhat coherent manner.

Main file requirements:

Vegetarian Food and Recipes - for the added food and drink items. Here they get rebalanced; added to LL both common and rare, depending on the item; and get many and many crafting recipes added.
Simple Coffee - Lite - for the coffee and tea drinks. Here there recipes get rebalanced; LL distribution handled; unplugged from the quest requirement.
Craftable Coffee - for the white coffee. Seriously, this is important, and I take it personally that white coffee is majorly ignored. Here it is rebalanced; LL integrated; connected to the previous requirement.
Give Me That Bottle - for the bottle/carton/can returning function.
Equipment and Crafting Overhaul (ECO) - for the categories, mainly. Several food/drinks related recipes rebalanced.
Damn Apocalypse - for a lot of reasons.

~~~
Almost all cooking recipes now require 1 Wood component (for heating purposes). If you use NW, reheating cooked food requires wood as well.
The other most commonly required component is Salt. It can be found in Salt shakers or made from scratch (Cooking station > Utility section).
There are also Sugar and Pepper. Pepper can be found in shakers or made, sugar can be found or made as well.
Jokerine's vegetarian food mod introduced a crafting recipe for a vanilla item that was barely used: Cooking Oil. Now it can also be found and bought, if you don't meet the requirements for crafting.
More complicated cooking requires skill proper tools. Such as Clean Teapot - for making tea. Or Clean Cooking Pot - for making soups. Some of them you can find in the wild (it's the Pre-war variants), some can only be crafted. Requires the 'dirty' item, Anticeptic, and Cloth. You can find those recipes in Cooking station > Utility section.
Many cooking recipes simply will not show up in the menu until you have the required tool in you possession. And again, only clean utensils count.
Inspired by GMTB, some food and drink items now require/return an item, such as a Coffee Cup or a Bowl.
If you thought that I have finished making Sole Survivor's life miserable, think again. Because a wonderful mod called Damn Apocalypse has added radiation damage to practically all food items in its optional Radiation module.
FYI, If you use Radiation or Loot modules, be sure to place my patches LOWER than them. Also Recycling feature of DA is not compatible with GMTB, so you would have to keep it off.
Huge amount of credit goes to DA for those food/drinks edits, as they are carried over, sometimes with change, to this patch. Highly recommend to use one or more of the modules, loaded earlier in the load order.
Raw meat is no longer somewhat safe to eat. It now has high disease risk regardless of origin, and is poisonous to consume raw. No Strong Stomach keyword for you, Breton.
Some Damn Apocalypse added items, such as Spoiled fruits, have been rebalanced and made more dangerous. Unripe - the opposite.  Unripe is still dangerous, but less than their spoiled opponents. Recipes for drinks added by DA are also rebalanced to fit in.
Additional plugin requirements:
Fallout 2287 - Nuclear Winter - for the food/drinks freezing function. All the added food and drink items are patched and should freeze/cool off after a while in the inventory or on the event of container transfer (meaning if you store your food - it will immediately freeze, that's just how NW scripts work).
Also added a cheeky and highly punishing tweak for Give Me That Bottle: any glass bottles filled with water will not survive the temperature. They will break into glass. hehehe
To help with that, I also added the recipes to transfuse water from bottles to a 'safe' container, such as a carton or a can. Requires an Empty Carton/Can and can be done in a Cooking station.
~~~
A second additional requirement for the additional plugin is Nuka Cola (and Vim) Addiction. This is due to the edits to the same drinks. This patch also fixes the inconsistency between NW and Ice Cold Drinks. They are now called Stabilized Temperature drinks, since they are not and never were affected by the nuclear winter. (Feel free to suggest a more poignant adjective.)
~~~
Apart from patching a metric ton of new veggie foods and drinks and a billion of water bottles, I also patched Far-Harbor and Nuka World consumables, connecting them to the NW system. They should now freeze like any other.
The original did not include vegetables/crops like carrots and melons, probably to avoid workshop related issues, so in the spirit of this, only cooked food items are affected, and only those that need to stay warm. (You can eat cold muffins, I promise, you will be fine.)
Optional small plugin that has nothing to do with this:
If you would like to shoot your character in the foot some more, there is also a small and gentle little optional plugin that will effectively Disable Health Regeration from Food by replacing it with AP regen. This particular change was inspired by Removed Food Health by MASmarksman.
