I had a very similar set-up for another near-futuristic weapon that I felt like I could apply here.
As with any crude replacer, already existing weapons that are replaced will either be invisible or messed-up looking. Either modify, scrap it, or find a new one and it should be fine.
Replaced the Institute Laser gun
Will only spawn with ASIIMOV & Experimental skins
Added Fusion Cell ammo conversion that uses the blue space laser projectile from the Nuka-World DLC, which you will lose if you craft the other ammo conversions
Added 'Advanced Systems Suppressors' that remove the 'override projectile' feature to the replaced weapon, which you will lose if you craft any other suppressors
Reduced value to 50 from 750 for replaced weapons
Increased weight to 8 from 4 for replaced weapons
Increased bash damage for replaced weapons
Super Mutants can't use this weapon
Disabled leveled list injections
Compacted Form IDs to convert to esLp (probably not compatible with any current Tactical Reload patches)
ESL-flagged ESP file; so you can change where you want it in your load order without it counting towards your ESP plugin limit
