Let's you convert the excellent BH SIG MCX Spear to fire vanilla 5.56 mm or 308 ammunition.

Anyone who has used it knows what an awesome mod the BH SIG MCX Spear NGSW is. Among my favorite weapon mods in Fallout 4.
The one small downside of the mod is that it uses unique 6.8 mm ammunition that you must craft at the Chem Station, or find in very small quantities at vendors or out in the world. If you're too trigger happy and not paying attention to your ammo supply, it's easy to run low.
This small mod (an esp flagged as an esl so it won't hurt your load order) allows you to take your MCX Spear to the Weapons Workbench and build an ammunition conversion so that it will fire the same vanilla 5.56 used in turrets and the vanilla assault rifle, and found in vanilla leveled lists. The weapon modification can be added or removed at any weapon workbench once you've built it (which requires a few components and the Gun Nut 3 perk).

Update - Version 2
While the real life MCX Spear has never been available in 5.56 (at least commercially) it is sold on the civilian market in 7.62x51 caliber (a near equivalent of 308). 308 ammunition is widely available in the vanilla game for hunting rifles and other weapons, so in v2 I added a second caliber conversion. You can now convert your Spear to either 5.56mm or 308.
The 308 conversion will do more damage, at the tradeoff of increased weight and more components to craft it. Still needs Gun Nut 3. The v2 esp (still flagged as an esl) is still titled with "556 ammo conversion" but has both, I just kept that so it wouldn't cause issues for people upgrading.

- slightly less damage than the more powerful 6.8 cartridge
- recoil is reduced
- sell value of the weapon is increased
- magazine capacity is increased by 5 (there is no model change for this, and weapon mods under the Magazine category will still say 20 and 30, but your capacity just auto-magically increases by 5 nonetheless. It just works - see the photo)

- download and install the original mod with your mod manager of choice, endorse it!!!
- download and install this mod, it must load after the original
- that's it!
