Using a combination of splicing original game lines and rearranging of the dialogue, I've changed Thane's hospital cutscene following Cerberus's attempted coup so it's less "Thane dies," and more "Thane is fairly badly injured, but he's not dead yet," to open up his surviving the game. This, like some other ME2 squadmates in 3, is dependent on his loyalty mission being successfully completed in 2, so if you failed or didn't complete that mission, he'll die as in vanilla.

As Shepard completes missions following the coup and throughout the Rannoch arc, they'll receive emails explaining what's happening with Thane that can differ slightly depending on whether you romanced him or not, and your outcome on Priority: Rannoch. Shepards that romanced Thane will receive an additional email following Priority: Horizon. (I will most likely add a few more emails to this mod in updates; I just very much didn't want this mod to be kept from release because of my writer's block.)

The memorial with Kolyat in the Citadel DLC will not be available if Thane lives (for obvious reasons ;)).

Only for English audio; if you want to make a full translation of this mod, you have my permission so long as I'm credited. Subtitles/emails have partially been localized for non-English text (German, Polish, Russian, French, and Italian have been fully translated).

Compatibility

• This mod was built using files from the LE3 Community Patch, so those fixes will be present whether or not you have the patch installed.
• This mod has a compatibility patch for the LE3 Community Framework, so if you use the Community Patch/Framework, make sure that is installed before installing this mod so the patch can be applied.
• This mod has a compatibility patch for Project Variety by Scottina123. Same as above, make sure Project Variety is installed before Thane Can Live so the patch is applied.
• This mod has potential incompatibilities with Shut Up Leng, Reworked Kai Leng, and the 'Missions' option of Miranda Mod, due to some changes I made removing dialogue that referenced Thane's "death" later in the game. These changes are optional though, and unnecessary imo if you're using one of those Kai Leng mods (which silence Kai's line about killing Thane on their own). The conflict with Miranda Mod only affects Cerberus HQ, and will override this mod's files so Shepard's "This is for Thane!" line will play.
• This mod is not compatible with Thane Lives, for reasons that I hope are obvious.
  
  

Installation

• Drag and drop the file into the ME3Tweaks Mod Manager and import it
• Make sure the mod is selected in the mod manager and click apply
• Make sure the patch is applied or not correctly according to your intended mod setup in the options window (if the patch isn't applied when you plan to use the Community Patch/Framework, cancel, go install that mod, then come back to this one)
• When everything seems to be in order, click install
  

Uninstallation

• In the mod manager, with LE3 in the installation target, click Manage Target
• In the window that pops up, under the Installed DLC Mods tab, click Delete next to Thane Can Live
• Confirm your decision
