Hide the Skooma - MCP Version

Description

This mod is a modified version of ManaUser's Hide the Skooma (part of the Minimods collection) that takes advantage of the service refusal filtering feature of Morrowind Code Patch to ensure you'll only have to hide your drugs when attempting to barter, not when using other services.

In vanilla Morrowind, when you have any moon sugar or skooma in your inventory, and you attempt to utilize any service offered by an NPC who normally buys ingredients or potions but who won't buy your drugs, the NPC will refuse to serve you until you get rid of the drugs, which means you have to drop them on the floor or otherwise get rid of them in order to conduct business. And this applies when you try to use any service of these NPCs, not just bartering. So, for example, try to buy spells from Arrille, and he'll refuse service because you're carrying Moon Sugar.

Hide the Skooma makes this much less inconvenient by running a script that automatically removes your contraband from your inventory and then re-adds it after you're done trading. But this script runs whenever you use any service of the relevant NPCs, not just bartering, so it will still hide your drugs when you buy spells from Arrille, for example.

There are two plugins in this archive. The first is basically a copy of ManaUser's original plugin, with service refusal filtering implemented so the script will only run when attempting to *barter* with a stuck-up merchant who won't buy your drugs. (It also incorporates a minor fix made by Patch for Purists to one of the edited dialogue entries.)

The second plugin is a purist-friendly version that, in addition to the above, also removes one of ManaUser's changes. In vanilla Morrowind, only Khajiit merchants will buy your drugs. ManaUser's original version changes this so that Thieves Guild and Camonna Tong members will also buy contraband. The purist-friendly version omits this change (so it's purely a convenience mod, not a gameplay mod). It does, however, incorporate Patch for Purists fixes that allow you to sell drugs to Helviane Desele and Ashumanu Eraishah (since they'll sell drugs to you).

The mod Hide the Sugar Hide the Skooma by rot does basically the same thing as ManaUser's mod, and is a good alternative to this mod and ManaUser's original.

Installation

Use a mod management tool such as Wrye Mash, or just copy the plugin of your choice to your Data Files directory and select it in the Morrowind Launcher. Enable only one of these plugins, not both.

Requirements

This mod requires Morrowind Code Patch, and in particular its service refusal filtering feature, in order to work as intended. If you use this mod without MCP's service refusal filtering patch active, any merchant that buys potions or ingredients will buy your contraband. If you can't or don't want to use MCP, then you should use ManaUser's original or rot's mod.
