Do you feel like your Morrowind playthrough is missing a modern gaming touch? Do you yearn for a sense of pride and accomplishment? Does the lack of a Creation Club/Atomic Shop/TES: Blades chest equivalent in Morrowind give you the blues? Am I creating a problem and selling you the solution?
If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, this mod is for you! ToddCrates adds in a premium currency, BethesdaBux™, which you can use to purchase CreationKeys© needed to open ToddCrates®, modern gaming lootboxes that have a chance to give you any (functional) item in the game. Put bluntly...it's a lot of shit. How do you get in on this shit? Like any other modern game, simply SPEND MONEY! Gold. The host of the Aetheric Shop™—a tall, dashing gentleman named Todd who bears absolutely no further resemblance to a certain maverick
In order to, er, incentivize you to monetize the Aetheric Shop™, leveled lists have been adjusted to make the ToddCrates® seem better. I have not touched the hand-placed loot or modified static loot in the inventories of creatures and NPCs, solely because I do not want to spend a lifetime doing so. Also, I don't want to break any quests (I tried to avoid breaking any quest as a result of my leveled list changes, but there's really no telling. As with any mod, use this at your own risk).
ToddCrates! Please ignore how this would have been better as a Skyrim or Fallout 4 mod released around the time the Creation Club or Fallout 76 or TES: Blades were relevant. This mod is embarrassing enough without reminding me of how untimely it is. My original concept for this was a Skyrim mod for which I made a working prototype 6 years ago. Yeah.
Installation
There are two versions of this mod, and which you should use depends on if you have Westly's Pluginless Head and Hair Replacer installed. I highly recommend you install this mod (not only because it will make Todd look how he should, but it is a great mod on its own). With this mod installed, use ToddCrates - Westly's Head and Hair Replacer. If you don't, Todd will look weird. If you do not have Westly's Pluginless Head and Hair Replacer installed, use ToddCrates - Vanilla. If you don't, Todd will look weird. Simple as that. With ToddCrates.esp installed, place it below Tribunal and Bloodmoon in your load order, as such:
Tribunal
Bloodmoon
ToddCrates
This mod probably requires Bloodmoon and Tribunal because of some script functions I used. Cleaned with TES3CMD and the Enchanted Editor. Probably incompatible with anything that edits leveled lists or the cell Seyda Neen -2, -9 (specifically a small area immediately in front of where the player exits Census and Excise after making a new character).
Q&A
Q: Why?
A: It just works.
Q: Is this safe for an existing playthrough?
A: Should be. I don't know how that would play with the changes I made to the leveled lists, but Todd will greet you differently depending on whether you are near him (probably a new character) or not (probably an existing character) when the mod is loaded.
Q: Which version of this mod should I use?
A: See the installation section above.
Q: Why not pack the assets needed to make Todd look proper into just one version of the mod so that you don't have to have two separate versions depending on if Westly's Pluginless Head and Hair Replacer is installed?
A: I could do this. It would be very easy to copy the .nif and .dds files I want from Westly's Pluginless Head and Hair Replacer and put them with my mod as a standalone. However, I am not comfortable re-distributing other modders' assets without permission. So there are two versions, one for if you have Westly's Pluginless Head and Hair Replacer installed and one for if you do not. I could reach out to the author and obtain permission, but he is not on the Nexus and I'm not sure where else I would contact him.
