This mod is a complete overhaul of Oblivion's UI, focused on giving it a more modern feel. The result is a dark, Morrowind-esque user interface retexture with all of the benefits of DarNified UI: smaller inventory icons, a larger and more customizable map, completely configurable UI placement, et al.
Also included are loading screen replacers and many compatibility patches. New loading screens come in two flavors. The first is just a dark grey retexture of the vanilla loading screens, with Shivering Isles compatibility. The second is a retexture of the screens from trollf's Loading Screens Themed Replacer, again with Shivering Isles compatibility. In the latter option, each loading screen has a unique, thematic caption; for instance, an image of a Khajiiti thief might be accompanied by a caption describing the Sneak skill. This is a markedly different system from vanilla Oblivion, which paired loading screens with random captions.
First, it is critical that if you are using the following mods, you install those BEFORE you install Dark Transparent UI:
- Alchemy Advanced
- Oblivion XP
- KCAS (Kudo's Character Advancement System)
- AF Level
- Realistic Leveling
Wrye Bash (BAIN):
- Drag this entire archive to the "Installers" tab of Wrye Bash.
- Right click on the archive in Wrye Bash and select "Wizard".
- Select the appropriate options.
- Copy the contents of "00_Data" to your Oblivion "data" folder.
- Choose the "01_optional_SneakEye_X" folder corresponding to your monitor's resolution, or choose the "01_optional_SneakEye_Bottom" folder if you want the sneaking indicator to appear on the bottom of your screen. Copy the contents of your selected folder to your Oblivion "data" folder.
- Choose the "02_optional_X" folders corresponding to your previously installed mods and copy their contents to the Oblivion "data" folder. Overwrite any conflicting files.
- If you want the functionality of Loading Screens Themed Replacer, copy the contents of "03_LoadingScreens Base" to your "data" folder. If you have Shivering Isles installed, do the same with "03_LoadingScreens SI".
- If you have copied the folders in step 4, choose an appropriate "04_EspBase" folder here. The ones with "+SI" indicate Shivering Isles compatibility, and the ones with "+Addon" indicate that they include an additional 300 loading screens (with unique captions). Again, copy the contents of your chosen folder to the Oblivion "data" folder.
- If you chose the loading screen add-on in step 5, copy the contents of "05_LoadingScreens_addon" to your "data" folder.
- If you have copied the folders in step 4 and have Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul installed, copy the contents of "05_LoadingScreens-OOO patch" to your "data" folder.
- Make the following edits to your Oblivion.ini file (typically found in "Documents\My Games\Oblivion"):
[General]
smainmenumovie=Map_Loop.bik
smainmenumovieintro=Oblivion_iv_logo.bik
[Fonts]
SFontFile_1=Data\Fonts\Font_1_Name.fnt
SFontFile_2=Data\Fonts\Font_2_Name.fnt
SFontFile_3=Data\Fonts\Font_3_Name.fnt
where "Font_1_Name" (et al) will be replaced by the corresponding font name.
Dark Transparent UI has patches included for the following mods:
- Alchemy Advanced
- Oblivion XP
- KCAS (Kudo's Character Advancement System)
- AF Level
- Realistic Leveling
- OOO (Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul)
Uninstall:
If you installed this mod through Wrye Bash, simply right click on its entry in the "Installers" tab and choose "Uninstall". If you installed the mod manually, your best bet will be to go through and remove every file in the "Data/Menus" folder that Dark Transparent UI installed; you can most likely delete the entire folder safely. After that, change the following settings in your Oblivion.ini file:
[General]
smainmenumovie=Map_Loop.bik
smainmenumovieintro=Oblivion_iv_logo.bik
[Fonts]
SFontFile_1=Data\Fonts\Kingthings_Regular.fnt
SFontFile_2=Data\Fonts\Kingthings_Shadowed.fnt
SFontFile_3=Data\Fonts\Tahoma_Bold_Small.fnt
SFontFile_4=Data\Fonts\Daedric_Font.fnt
First, I (Apoapse) did not make this mod. I simply translated it (which involved several retextures), compiled it, and wrote this readme and the BAIN install wizard. This mod was originally the work of Allexa -- it is a combination of his two mods "Loading Screens (replase to grey)"[sic] and "OA_Dark Transparent UI". In turn, Allexa used the mods DarNified UI, DarkUI, Cinematic Dialog HUD, and Loading Screens Themed Replacer as a basis for thosetwo mods. In his original readme (roughly translated from Russian here), Allexa thanks the following people:
- Beider & Tikigod, for making BTMod
- DarN, for DarNified UI
- Gothic251, for DarkUId DarN
- GrilledFish, for Cinematic Dialog HUD
- The translators working on the translation of the above projects to Russian.
- The team of "Oblivion Association", for help and advice when creating a mod.
Because I was such a small part in bringing this mod to you, I cannot grant any sort of permission to redistribute it. For that, you will have to contact Allexa on nexusmods.com, on tesall.ru, or on rubarius.ru. If you need any help with this mod, you can contact me (Apoapse) on the Nexus. I will do my very best to keep this file up to date and of high quality.
