About this mod

This mod fixes Dot Crosshair, made by PuppetVaysa. It is now center-aligned and more accurate. (Mostly for ranged characters and people who suffer from CUS)

Dot Crosshair (Fixed) fixes Dot Crosshair, created by PuppetVaysa. Dot Crosshair's reticle is far upper-left, which is immediately apparent when using a ranged character or an interface mod (DarNifiedUI, NorthernUI, etc.). I have realigned the crosshairs and centered them. PuppetVaysa has permitted me to upload these textures to the public.

There are a couple of caveats to this, however. Due to in-game limitations and how the models move and function, you may notice that the sneaking and standing reticles are not in the same position. This is a glaring tell of how truly misaligned and inaccurate the vanilla reticles are. We're only seeing it because of the dot being used here, compared to an obstructive shiny eyeball and a big cross. If you switch from sneak/stand rapidly it is more noticeable. The other issue has to do with how the game handles height while sneaking. The dot will not be exactly aligned to the loosed arrow as it is while standing. Unfortunately, there isn't a simple way of centering the sneak crosshair perfectly (short of changing animations and models), as it is intended to be above center by the game (you are technically lower to the ground while sneaking). Lowering it any farther makes it partially disappear. However, it is still mostly center-aligned, and the space between the reticle and arrow is reduced to only a few pixels (higher elevations seem to reduce this space even more, which I believe to be visual evidence of an intended game mechanic related to player height/elevation/arrow physics). Either way, it feels like a significant improvement, regardless of minor visual artifacts/oddities.

To be clear, the dot will not be center-on-screen, it is center-aligned to the player's actions (archery, spellcasting, etc.). In addition, the original mod's misalignment can also be found in the other dot crosshair mod. They have identical pixel placements in their textures. I am uncertain why. However, it is worth noting that the vanilla crosshairs are just as inaccurate. We can just see it now. It may be these dots are based on the vanilla reticle texture, which may explain why they behave the same way.

I have included the necessary files for those with lower resolutions, as well as a version for those using NorthernUI (I use it). If anyone would like a Darnified version, let me know and I will see about making a version for that as well. Seems to either be incompatible with DarNUI, or incompatible with my reading comprehension/coding knowledge. I apologize, but for now, this is only compatible with vanilla and NorthernUI setups. At least until I figure out how to fix DarNUI without DarN.

==Install==
--Vanilla--
1.) Backup your "hud_reticle.dds" in Textures\Menus\Misc (if you have one).
2.) If you have a lower resolution, you should also backup the file(s) of the same name in Menus50\Misc and Menus80\Misc.
3.) Download the "Dot Crosshair (Fixed)" file, then extract the contents to your Oblivion folder, overwriting when necessary.

--NorthernUI--
1.) Backup all of the files in Textures\Menus\NorthernUI\HUD.
2.) Download the "Dot Crosshair Fixed (NUI)" file, then extract the contents to your Oblivion folder, overwriting when necessary.

==Uninstall==
1.) Replace the files above with your backups.

For those wondering: CUS = Can't Unsee Syndrome [When one suffers from knowing something is there/has been seen/is seeable/is out of place, etc.](I just made it up. Could be imaginary.) This mod may trigger your CUS. Don't Sneak/Stand in quick repetition, and you'll be okay. That means NO T-Bagging. That includes you, Carl.
