About this mod

This submod of Kvatch Rebuilt improves the restored Kvatch city, adding new NPCs, vendors, locations, dialogue and more, and changing existing ones.

Requirements
Permissions and credits
Donations
The mod is a submod of Kvatch Rebuilt.

Important! The script which initializes some aspects of the mod is activated when you enter the fully rebuilt Kvatch castle through the main door. If you install the mod before the Kvatch is fully rebuilt, you don't have to think much about it, since you will naturally enter that door at least when you visit the coronation of Count (either yourself or Kvatch heir). Otherwise, make sure that you enter the castle through the door at least once after installing the mod (you can do that at any time, but until you do that, the mod won't be fully initialized). You will need to repeat the procedure after installing updates.

Should be safe to install on existing saves. I actually developed and tested the mod on an existing save.

Recommended: Better Kvatch Rebuilt (Submod) An AI Voiced Experience. This submod for my submod adds AI voices (ElevenLabs) for new dialogue. Otherwise, you will need -Elys- Universal Silent Voice or similar mod.

New NPCs

The mod currently adds 24 new named NPCs, including:
  • Complete chapel staff: 2 NPCs, including new spell merchant
  • New Mages Guild spell merchant: a mage who arrived to Kvatch to learn Restoration from Oleta
  • Thieves Guild fence. You don't need to be a member of Thieves Guild to trade with him.
  • Arena staff (3 NPCs), including a vendor and a trainer
  • 3 Arena gladiators
  • 2 servants, similar to servants from Battlehorn castle and Skingrad home. One is at the castle, other – at Honeydew manor
  • Castle clerk
  • Family (2 NPCs) who run the stables (but currently you can't buy horses there)
  • Family (2 NPCs) who live in former Boldon's house
  • Noble family (2 NPCs) who live in Honeydew manor. They appear only if player is the Count, since otherwise the manor is intended for player
  • Crypt of Lords priest
  • 2 beggars

Also mod adds a Fighters Guild porter and a few various guards.

Changes to existing NPCs

Berich Inian was promoted to Captain of Kvatch guard, and received personal quarters at castle, new dialogue, schedule and equipment.
He was chosen because he most likely already was an officer before fall of Kvatch: he has highest level among Kvatch guards, heavy armor and an important key. If he died in your playthrough, I think you can resurrect him.

Procis Douarus (steward) also received personal quarters at castle, new dialogue, schedule and equipment.

Expanded personality of Oleta through dialogue.

Ilav Dralgoner will return to his senses after you fully rebuild Kvatch and complete the main quest. It is reflected in dialogue and his schedule: he will stop drinking and will return to a normal priest life.

Boldon and Tavia married and moved to Tavia's house (totally not because I wanted to use Boldon's home for more NPCs :-) )

Godras (gardener) properly moves back to Anvil when Kvatch is rebuilt, but visits Kvatch once a week.

Restored J'Ram-Ku from Kvatch Rebuilt. He was supposed to work in the stables, but, because of a bug, usually was forever stuck in one of the previous, not fully rebuilt versions of Kvatch. I accidentally discovered his existence long after I made the new stables owners, so J'Ram-Ku is now a hired worker at the stables and lives in the stables basement, which I specially made for him.

A few more vanilla and Kvatch Rebuilt NPCs got improved schedule and clothes.

Quest improvements

The long questline that statrs when you pick the sword at the Crypt of Lords is now completely optional. You can enjoy all features of Kvatch as soon as it's rebuilt (for example, Arena and statue quests, guard followers and taxes). The questline can be completed any time at your leisure, or you can ignore it indefinitely.

New Kvatch heir quest rewards:
  • If Kvatch heir survives (it doesn't matter if you or he became the Count) he gifts you a unique enchanted sword. After that he becomes essential, so you can't get both rewards.
  • If he dies, you can get a gold reward from Dark Brotherhood (you need to speak to Lucien Lachance or Arquen). You receive the reward even if you hired Dark Brotherhood to kill him, since it's you who tracked him down.

Locations

New locations:
  • Steward's personal quarters at castle, with a collection of books on politics and economics, and some valuables
  • Captain's personal quarters at castle, with trophies from the battle for Kvatch
  • Honeydew manor basement with a small vault
  • Stables basement, where J'Ram-Ku now lives
  • A small secret location for you to discover

Improved locations:
  • Crypt of Lords is now an interesting place worth revisiting. It now contains shrines and new priest NPC. And, most importantly, it contains vaults of Kvatch with many valuables and multiple powerful items, including trophies from battle for Kvatch (that's why the crypt entrance is hidden in the first place). All items are free to take, because you deserved it. The vaults are guarded by two soldiers.
  • Improved Arena Bloodworks
  • Kvatch Mages Guild now contains spellmaking and enchanting altars
  • Chapel Undercroft now has ghosts like all other chapel undercrofts. As in vanilla, the ghosts are friendly if you have completed the pilgrimage.
  • North-east tower (where the passageway starts) now has a door which leads outside of the city. In lore, it's intended for tasks like wall maintenance and sorties.
  • Various improvements to some other locations

Other

  • Many new dialogue, mostly for citizens of Kvatch
  • You can disable (or reenable) the moving bookcase which hides the Crypt of Lords entrance. If you disable the bookcase, you will be able to enter the crypt normally through the door. To do so, speak to Volrina Faleria, castle servant. She can usually be found in the castle dining hall.
  • Many Kvatch vendors sell new unique enchanted items, (like Rindir's Apotheosis or Thoronir's Imperial Breeches in vanilla).
  • Sword of Kvatch from Crypt of Lords now is called Honorblade of Kvatch and has an enchantment.
  • Multiple new books from other Elder Scrolls games. They can be found in various Kvatch locations, and Miaren Arendu (general goods vendor from Kvatch Rebuilt) sells them.
One of the books is Saint Jiub's Autobiography (from Skyrim). The manuscript was found in the ruins of Jiub's house, and Miaren Arendu had it printed.
  • Heavy Kvatch guard cuirass, worn by Berich Inian and some other guards. The model is from Hero Of Kvatch Armor mod, but I removed the neck guard (which was too large in my opinion).
  • A few new items

Troubleshooting

It was reported by mifbgaming that vanilla Oblivion launcher (OblivionLauncher.exe) claims it's not a valid plugin or master file. Removing "(Submod)" from the file name fixed the issue. I didn't change the file name, because it would cause problems with updating the mod, and so far only one person reported the problem.
