1. Why?
Why not?
2. You forgot some NPCs!
No, I did not.
Some of the general goods merchants (ex. Lucan Valerius) are already flagged as essential due to a quest. The flag is taken away after you complete their quest by a script. TES5Edit can't modify scripts; only the Creation Kit can do that, and I currently have no access to the Creation Kit. I also have very little knowledge on scripts, so even if I tried I wouldn't be able to change it.
The BAT version addresses this issue. Please read the included instructions.
3. Yes, you did forget! Ri'saad isn't flagged as essential in your mod!
Because he's already flagged as essential in the base game.
4. Will you make a vanilla-only version?
The BAT version is vanilla only.
5. Why does this require USLEEP?
USLEEP makes important changes to some of the general goods merchants, and my mod relies on those changes to function.
6. Where should this go in my load order?Did you even read the description, mate?
Essential NPCs - General Goods Merchants should be place high in your load order, above any mod that makes changes to NPCs. It should also go above any mod that makes changes to towns (ex. ETaC).
7. Is this compatible with (insert mod here)?
Probably. All this does is add an "essential" flag to general goods merchants, so as long as you keep this above any other mod that makes changes to general goods merchants, you should be okay. It will obviously be incompatible with any other mod that touches an NPCs "essential" flag.
The BAT version, however, is fully compatible with nearly everything as long as the FormIDs of the general goods merchants isn't changed in any way.
8. BUT MY IMMERSION!
Your tears only strengthen me.
9. Will you be making any other kind of merchants essential?
Yes! Blacksmiths, alchemists, innkeepers...if you buy or sell something, you're getting a file. Certain quest NPCs will also be getting a file, and you've probably already seen Essential NPCs - Puppers, which makes all of the named dogs of Skyrim essential.
10. Will you ever release an all-in-one version?
Yes! When I finish all of the modular files, I'll merge them into one great big file for those of you who want it all in one swoop.
11. What about mod-added NPCs?
Probably, though I will only cover NPCs in mods that I personally use. The mod authors will have to give me permission and their FormIDs before I do anything.
12. This mod broke my game!
No it didn't. All it does is flag general goods merchants as essential, nothing more and nothing less. If you insist, then give me your load order and I'll take a look.
13. I think I found a bug!
First, verify that it's coming from my mod in the first place. Once that's well and done, you can let me know.
Please included very detailed information about the bug, such as where it happened, what you were doing, what the bug was doing, which version you are using, etc. Provide your load order as well so that I can see if it's a result of a strange interaction between other mods you might have.
14. Why does your description have so many colors?
So I can read it.
I have a condition where if there's too much "clutter" in my field of vision, I can't pick out specific things. It happens when you put OCD and ADD into a blender and mix it into a fine puree. Varying, contrasting colors make things easier on me.
Plus, we all need some pretty colors in our lives.
Thank you for reading, and I hope you have fun!
