KS Hairdos Wigs Convenience Patch
by Darklocq, from wigs mod by Montyj, based on hair mod by Kalilies and Stealthic

This is a replacement ESP file for "Wigs - So Followers Can Use KS Hairdos with HDT Physics" by Montyj. It resolves the following issues:

  • All wigs now have consistent names and sort together, instead of being clumped separately under names like "KS ..." and "HDT KS ...". I moved the "HDT" to the end of the name of each HDT wig.
  • All wigs are now craftable at any Forge, not just at the Skyforge.
    • Not all of us spend most our our time in Whiterun. I had the original mod installed for months and didn't realize it worked, since I don't use the Skyforge other than for certain special things.
    • Some of us have trouble with Skyforge causing crashes anyway (it's outdoors in Whiterun, which already requires a lot of memory, then you load a bloated crafting menu, and boom).
    • It was also frustrating to have a player home with crafting stations and a bunch of followers in residence but not be able to make the wigs for them at home where they are.
  • ESPs are merged: instead of two separate "KS Wigs HDT 4.0" (KSWigsHDT.esp) and "KS Wigs NON-HDT 1.025" (KS Wigs NonHDT.esp) plugins, there's just one merged and tweaked KSWigsHDT.esp.
    • There are no redundant wigs, just the unique HDT ones and unique non-HDT ones (any that existed in both versions in the original wig ESPs are now in this merged one as just the HDT version).

Nothing else was changed. All the wigs remain Light Armor (if you want just-clothing or Heavy Armor, you'll need to make them yourself).

Requirements

  • The original KS Wigs mod by Montyj: both the HDT and non-HDT archives are needed, for their wig meshes.
  • All of that mod's dependencies, including KS Hairdos HDT, and KS Hairdos Renewal for the non-HDT ones, plus HDT Physics Extensions, and SKSE.
    • You do not actually require either of the KS Hairdos ESP files, just the hair mesh and texture resources. You only need the original hair ESPs if you want to pick those hairdos for the player character in RaceMenu. (Myself, I enable these mods at game-start time and remove them along with other RaceMenu mods later, to free up mod slots).
    • You'll crash to desktop if you try to equip (on you or an NPC) any HDT item without HDT-PE installed.
    • This mod is not for you if you have a constant problem with HDT-PE spazzing out and making your followers invisible.  Try breast-weighted hairs instead, though I'm not sure if there's a wig mod for that.

Installation

Install the original mod (both parts) and dependencies first. Order to install: SKSE, HDT-PE, KS Hairdos Renewal, KS Hairdos HDT, Wigs Non-HDT, Wigs HDT.

Optional: You probably also want "KS Hairdo's Transparency Fix", which repairs several hair meshes.

Throw away "KS Wigs NonHDT.esp".

Overwrite the original "KSWigsHDT.esp" file with mine.

To uninstall, just re-download the original mod and use its original ESP files.

Boilerplate

Most credit, of course, goes to Kalilies and Stealthic for the original hair sets (and the original developers of the hair models for The Sims and other
games), and Montyj for the wig mod I'm patching. (Montyj also credits Apogee777 and Suredude for "HDT Hair to Hair Helmet Tutorial".) All I did is fiddle around tediously in the ESP file. I impose no restrictions of my own on this, though any (like not being used for paid mods) imposed by any of the original authors will still apply.  Screenshots are from the Montyj mod.
