Henlo. You know Mathy's mod, Skyrim 3D Trees and Plants? It is great. But it has one emm... drawback? I'm not sure if i should even call that drawback. Artistic design - instead of replacing the models themselves, it adds new models and make items/trees/whatever use these models through their records in the esp file. Advantages? It makes it really hard for some other mod to have screwed up meshes. Like think of it - if someone took let's say a bread and decided to make light-yellow bread and then used the same model for bread and just made his new item use alt texture on that old bread - then if someone changed the model of bread it would use texture that is not at all matched with the new model. Gross. Who would do such a thing.
But the disadvantage is, that every mod that edits those item records would revert the model back to vanilla. Good example would be Apothecary. It edits all harvested plants so all plants would lose their model. Not good.
And here comes SkyPatcher babyyyyyy. It operates outside esp file. It just takes the final item you have after loading all of esps and such and applies one specific change. In this case it's changing the model path. So all other stuff remains the same - alchemy effects from Apothecary, values from WACCF, CACO, doesn't matter - the S3D model stays firmly as a rock.
