🔸FEATURES🔸
🚩

  • Guard armours introduced by Sons of Skyrim (SOS) get recognised by Andrealphus' Jobs Overhaul (AJO).
  • Removed AJO aliases that distribute guard armours to vendors (SOS already handles that by default).
  • Refit the NPCs added and/or edited by AJO with SOS equipment where appropriate.
  • Powered by SkyPatcher with almost zero compatibility issues.
  • ESPFE (ESP flagged as ESL).

🔸DESCRIPTION🔸
📜

Sons of Skyrim overhauls hold guard armours with new added records and not always altering vanilla records. This may produce inconsistencies if other mods try to refer these vanilla records.

Andrealphus' Jobs Overhaul edits existing jobs in game & introduces cool new ones, one of which, you can earn your penny as a guard. You need to possess relevant items to perform these jobs, so you need the guard armour of that exact hold if you want to work as a guard there. As guard armours are almost practically impossible to be acquired by good guys in vanilla game, AJO distributes base game guard armours to some (mostly blacksmith) vendor NPCs with quest aliases. This itself is the most appropriate method to avoid possible conflicts, but as in case of SOS, we need a patch for the reason I explained above.

While AJO has an optional plugin to disable all tool requirements for these jobs, true Nœrds never use that!

AJO also adds new NPC records to serve as Captains by which you can get drafted, and their equipment also fail to work seamlessly with SOS by default. You would still see old/vanilla armours worn by only these fellas around while all other Sons of Skyrim show off their swanky clothes. Well, not anymore!

This patch effectively...

  • Edits FormID Lists to get relevant SOS armours recognised by AJO, while removing vanilla armour records from the lists.
  • Disables distribution of vanilla hold armours to vendors (excluding Imperial armours which are only for Solitude blacksmith, do note that these are not hold armours!). This is performed by SOS already, on the same NPCs! Only difference was with Morthal. AJO adds a new Quartermaster into Moorside Inn, where SOS utilises Jonna (the innkeeper); both to sell Hjaalmarch guard equipment. Here I removed SOS edit from Jonna's container & applied them to Quartermaster. Needless to remind, I also removed his AJO distribution.
  • Rigs out all Captain roled NPCs introduced or edited by AJO with SOS weapons & armours, only where made sense. This one is a little tricky. AJO prefers some NPCs wear hold guard armours even if they speak and are named like Imperials. Normally, we see these kind of NPCs in full Imperial suite. However, I tried to be faithful to Andrealphus' vision here, and only altered NPCs equipment in line with SOS if they were clothed hold guard armours by AJO. I had to make a decision, sorry.

🔸COMPATIBILITY🔸
🖇️

All by the magic of SkyPatcher! Meaning, you do not need additional patches to make this compatible with whatever blacksmith merchant / AJO / SOS / NPC overhaul you might have! Hopefully, at least, as I cannot know how wild other authors may go.

Vague sentences aside, long as other "SkyPatcher / SPID / FLM and the like" mod does not edit the exact same sub records and somehow manages to override my mod on the runtime, you will not see any inconsistencies.

There is an ESL flagged plugin which has no purpose but to disable quest aliases that distribute vanilla hold armours to blacksmiths performed by AJO. Ensure by checking in xEdit that no other AJO mod/patch you have override this. Nothing will break even if so. Worst case scenario, you will see vanilla armours sold by vendors with new ones from SOS.

Other than that, load order should not matter.

🔸REQUIREMENTS🔸
🛍️

1. Sons of Skyrim
2. AJO - Andrealphus' Jobs Overhaul
3. SkyPatcher

🔸INSTALLATION🔸
🛠️

Please use a mod manager of choice.

If not, extract the files in your data folder. Delete when you want to uninstall.

I assume you can safely remove this mod mid play. The .esp only disables distribution of vanilla hold armours to vendors, removal would only reactivate them. Also, SkyPatcher .ini files are structured as SKSE plugins, so it shouldn't break your save.

But you always back up your saves. This is Skyrim, afterall. You never know when it Just Works™. 💪🏻
