Features

Completely SkyPatched
No vanilla records were harmed in the making of this mod.

Made for Requiem
Requiem basically splits the guards into two classes: ranged and melee. Normally, ranged guards will wear the light guard armor, use either a bow or a crossbow, and be specialized in the evasion and marksman skills. Melee guards will wear a heavy armor chest piece, use any melee weapon, and be specialized in the heavy armor, one handed and block skills. Luckily enough, NordWarUA's Sons of Skyrim contains a heavy and a light version for almost every guard armor set. My mod distributes those to the corresponding guards.

Installation

Hard Requirements
  • SkyPatcher

Soft Requirements
  • Sound Record Distributor: This mod contains a .yaml file that distributes sounds from Immersive Sounds - Compendium. If you don't use ISC, this file will do absolutely nothing so you don't need to worry about it. If you do use ISC, I recommend getting SRD version 1.3.0, since the newest version seems to still be bugged in regards to esl-flagged plugins.
  • Base Object Swapper: This mod contains an .ini file that swaps all guard armor placed in the world with items from this mod. If you don't use BOS, this file will do absolutely nothing.
  • Requiem: This mod was made with Requiem in mind. If you don't use Requiem, you definitely should! However, if you simply cannot be talked into using Requiem, I did include an optional plugin, which doesn't require it. Keep in mind that, without Requiem, guards will only get the light armor sets distributed to them.

Installation Instructions
  • Download with mod manager.
  • Install
  • Activate
  • ???
  • Profit

This mod will generally not cause any issues when installed or uninstalled mid-playthrough. Worst that could happen is that you might have to reset some guards inventory by opening the console, clicking on them, and typing "resetinventory" if they are either still using vanilla gear or being naked.

Load Order
Literally does not matter.

Compatibility
I did not change the file names from the SoS meshes and textures. Thus, it should be compatible with all retextures for the original SoS. This mod should in general not cause any compatibility issues, since no vanilla records were edited and everything is distributed via SkyPatcher. The only problem that could arise is with mods that require you to get the vanilla guard armors, like LOTD, since you simply won't find them anymore.

Personal Tweaks
I wasn't sure if I wanted to have cloaks distributed to every single guard, so I included an option to reduce the chance of an npc receiving a cloak. In the end, I decided to leave it at 100%, but if you want to change it, go to "SKSE\Plugins\SkyPatcher\leveledList\Sons of Skyrim - Brayven's Cut\Sons of Skyrim - Brayven's Cut.ini". In there, you can set the chance of an npc not receiving a cloak for each hold individually.

Disclaimer

Known Bugs
At least in my game there are specifically two guards in solitude and one guard in winterhold who still use a vanilla shield although they shouldn't. I have spend hours trying to figure out why they do that and I did not find a solution, so I decided to just roll with it. Any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated. It could also just be caused by another mod I have installed and you won't even have that problem.
If any guard at any point still uses vanilla armor simply open the console, click on them, and type "resetinventory". If that doesn't fix it, tell me.

Be Nice
This is my first mod of that scale and I might have overlooked some things or done some stupid mistakes. I also heavily underestimated the amount of work it would take to just assemble some armor sets in xEdit and write some ini files. I apologize in advance for any inconvenience.
