About this mod
Replaces the hanging rabbit models with snow hares (four available types) in Skyrim's snowy areas. Base Object Swapper version available, ESL flagged.
- Requirements
- Permissions and credits
- Changelogs
Now the homes, inns and kitchens in Skyrim's snowy areas can have hanging rabbits that match the ones spawning outside.
- Mihail's (based on Rabbit Replacer- Mihail Monsters and Animals (SE-AE version))
- Mihail fluffy (based on Fluffy Rabbit Replacer And Hanging Dead Rabbits Replacer)
- SMIM (based on Static Mesh Improvement Mod - SMIM)
- Vanilla
For the fluffy ones, I created my own fur using the base texture, resulting in some plush snow hares. The effect is more subtle than other shell texturing I've seen, but I think it's appropriate to an animal who depends on its thick coat to survive.
Pros: direct method, no requirements
Cons: needs patches for anything affecting the hanging rabbits or the area they are in
Base Object Swapper Version - MUST have a functioning BOS in your setup - uses a _SWAP.ini text file to replace the rabbits with snow hares based on the location name.
Pros: no patches needed, high compatibility, smaller esp file, **RECOMMENDED**
Cons: need BOS as a prerequisite. Any other mod using BOS on hanging rabbits could undo this mod's changes. Might get harmless errors in the BOS log file for missing locations unless you edit the _SWAP.ini file with a text editor.
- 4k textures for Mihail non-fluffy and fluffy base texture (2k shell texture only)
- Lower poly meshes from Optimized Meshes - Hanging Dead Rabbits Replacer- Mihail's Shards of Immersion (with permission from todor0v)
- Optimized mesh harvesting patch, which causes them to disappear when harvested, also from todor0v, original credit to Blackread's mod Hanging Dead Rabbits - Harvesting Patch

FAQ
Why are the SMIM snow hares bloody?
- The original rabbit textures had hangingrabbit02 bloody, so I also made the snow hare version bloody.
- To be honest, I haven't learned how to edit meshes to add shells for the fur yet. Plus, I personally don't have a lot of shell texturing in my game, and use Mihail's version.
- They are too cute! And I did not see an available model.
- Mihail originally provided the tied ones as a modder's resource and I'd like to do the same.
- I could not see any improvement, and I was not satisfied with the visuals when I tried using 4k for them
- I'll consider it...
BIG THANKS - CREDITS
I'd like to express my gratitude to MihailMods, WillOhTheWisp, and Brumbek for having the permissions allowing me to create this mod
Thanks also to todor0v for granting me permission to provide the optimized mesh from Optimized Meshes - Hanging Dead Rabbits Replacer- Mihail's Shards of Immersion (SE-AE) for the non-fluffy Mihail version!
And thank you to Blackread for having open permissions for his Hanging Dead Rabbits - Harvesting Patch so I could provide a snow hare version here as well.
