About this mod

A spellcaster is a fun and engaging playstyle, until you run out of Magicka. This is where this mod steps in to fill that gap with Spells that allow you to regenerate Magicka in several fun and engaging ways! No longer do you have to rely on a sword and wait until your Magicka is full again.

Why?
Playing a pure mage in Skyrim, is quite impossible. You always have to switch to other weapons, once your Magicka is depleted. Regenerating Magicka is very limited. There are not many ways to replenish and manage your Magicka. I already created another mod Magicka Flow - A Magicka Regeneration Overhaul to make Magic gameplay more fun and engaging. But for some people, this is still too passive. So Magicka Surge was created. A spell mod, with several ways to replenish Magicka by using Magicka Spells.


What is Magicka Surge?
Magicka Surge is a spell mod, which allows you to replenish your Magicka in new and fun enganging ways. Currently this mod adds 5 new spells. 3 Destruction and 2 Alteration Spells, which will allow you to play a pure mage character, without the need to use melee weapons. All spells are Magicka themed and have been altered/made with Blender and NIFSKOPE and Photoshop. 


Spells
(Some spells have dynamic costs, so read carefully.)

Regarding the visuals in the GIFs: Spells in the GIFs look different than ingame, thats due how the GIFs are recorded and have less FPS than ingame. 

Where to get the spells? (SkyPatcher or MCM Helper required)
All spells are added with SkyPatcher to LLs or can be injected with MCM manually. This means, they can be found or bought from vendors.

Magicka Bite is a player starting spell, but can be removed with MCM. If you prefer to start without any magic spells.



Magicka Bite (Destruction - Player starting Spell)
Magicka Cost: 30 without any perk. Costs 0 Magicka to cast when taking the first Destruction Perk
Amount restored: 5 + 3% of maximum Magicka. Targets needs to be hit, otherwise 0.
Damage: 9
Cooldown: None




Magicka Bolt (Destruction - Adept)
Magicka Cost: 100 without any perk. Costs 10 Magicka to cast when taking the first Destruction Perk and Destruction Skill 50+
Amount restored: 18 - 10 + 6% of maximum Magicka. Targets needs to be hit, otherwise -10
Damage: 14
Cooldown: None





Magicka Hunger (Apprentice)
Magicka Cost: 
No Destruction Perk = 700+ Magicka Cost
Destruction Skill < 25 = 524 Magicka Cost
Destruction Skill >= 25 and < 50 = 20 Magicka Cost
Destruction Skill > 50 = 0 Magicka Cost
This spell, will always drain the casters Magicka to 0. 
Amount restored: Absorbs all Magicka from enemies around you and drains their Magicka to 0 for 8 seconds. When no target is hit or the enemy has no Magicka, you gain no Magicka
Damage: None
Cooldown: When the spell is on cooldown, the cost will be increased to 9999 Magicka cost and a debuff(Exhaustion) will be applied.
Destruction Skill < 50 = 20 Minutes Exhaustion debuff
Destruction Skill > 50 = 10 Minutes Exhaustion debuff




Circle of Magicka (Alteration - Novice)
Magicka Cost: 20 without any perk.
Amount restored: 10 Magicka each second for 10 seconds, while inside the ring. Dual casting this spell, increases the duration to 20 seconds.
Damage: None
Cooldown: None





Life Tap (Alteration - Novice)
Magicka Cost: 0 - But will drain 10 life. (Can kill the caster)
Amount restored: 10 - Amount will increase when dual casting, but will also drain more life.
Damage: None
Cooldown: None






NPC Addon (Works also for mod added NPCs)
This will distribute Magicka Bite and Magicka Bolt to NPCs. Its only added to human like NPCs with the following classes:

All NPCs with those classes and a destruction skill between 20 and 49 will get Magicka Bite and NPCs with a skill of 50 and 100 will get Magicka Bolt. NPCs will use the spells to gain Magicka.



Install
Install the latest version of this mod.
Install the latest version of SkyPatcher to loot and buy the Spell Tomes from vendors.


Uninstall
You can uninstall the mod at any point, but as always, it's advised to revert to a save, where the mod was not installed.


Compatibility
Ordinator is the only mod so far that requires a patch. All other major perk overhauls should work fine. You will notice, if a patch is required, when the first destruction perk you take, does not set the cost of Magicka Bite to 0.

Third Person First Person Aiming

No Level Up Menu
This mod allows you to prevent the Level Up Menu, which you get, when you level up. This is achieved with two new papyrus functions, which allow you to call them in your own mod or use the the standalone mod provided with this mod. More information in the description.
