About this mod
Just an effort to integrate and rebalance some cool armors into OWLs framework for you balance snobs out there!
I wasn't gonna do the acronym I swear, it just sort of.... happened.
- Requirements
- Permissions and credits
- Changelogs
Gearshout
Mercenary Light Iron Armor:
- Both armors are heavy type with iron material, and have been balanced around iron and banded iron armor respectively.
- Made the light version 20% lighter than vanilla iron, so I made it 10% weaker for a total of 57 AR — 3 less than vanilla iron.
- Same rules applied to the protected variant, so a total of 60 AR — also 3 less than vanilla banded iron.
- Gold values readjusted to vanilla iron values.
- The hierarchy is then light merc -> iron -> protected merc -> banded.
Black Bear Ancient Nord Armor:
- Light version was balanced around leather armor and added to OWL leather lists.
- The heavy version was balanced around regular steel armor and added to OWL steel lists.
- All gold, weight, and armor values where adjusted in line with their vanilla counterparts.
- Crafting and tempering recipes were also made to mirror vanilla counterparts, while keeping the added cave bear pelt and bear claws where it seemed logical.
Rogue Nord Armor:
- The cuirass is 1 AR stronger than its scaled counterpart, but I reduced the other parts slightly since they look like regular leather and cloth. The total AR is now 61 — 3 less than vanilla scaled armor.
- Crafting and tempering recipes remain untouched as they mirror scaled crafting recipes.
Vigilants of Stendarr Templar Armor:
- Looks like steel plate but not quite as armored as vanilla, so I reduced the weight and armor rating using same rules as the merc iron armor. Total AR now is 82 — 5 less than vanilla steel plate.
- Reduced gold value of hood and lowered hood version, and kept AR at 2, as it looks like a regular cloth hood.
- Crafting and tempering recipes where adjusted to mirror vanilla steel plate.
4thUnknown
Wind Ruler Armor
- I balanced the armor around the nordic carved set, albeit with a slight buff to stats. The new AR is 97 — 5 less than stalhrim armor.
- This should make it a nice stopgap between nordic and stalhrim armors.
- Gold values slightly increased from nordic armor to reflect added AR.
- Tempering recipes altered from silver ingots to quicksilver.
Ysmir Armor
- Rebalanced around steel armor with a 5% buff. New total AR is 75 — 3 more than steel.
- Gold values readjusted inline with steel armor with slight increases. Weight was kept the same.
- Tempering recipes swapped to use steel ingots.
- Gauntlets had dragonplate fists perk keyword weirdly enough. Swapped to steel keyword.
Dwemer Armor
- Rebalanced along vanilla dwarven with a 10% increase in gold value to reflect the rarity of the armor.
- Total AR was increased to 81 — 3 more than vanilla dwarven.
- This is gonna show up alongside vanilla dwarven, so I didn't want to change its stats too much.
- This alongside CC alternate armors should really spice up dwarven armor variety.
Silver Armor
- Added to OWL silver armor leveled lists. Also added to outfit records which I will be retroactively doing for the other mods as well.
- Rebalanced stats around vanilla steel armor. Don't want silver hand to be too strong.
- Gold and weight was readjusted to steel armor equivalents.
- Changed required smithing perk from ebony to steel smithing.
Daedric Armor - Xtudo Version
- Kept all of xtudo's balance changes.
- All I did was add to OWL daedric lists and outfit records.
- You still need to download the original version as it has the armor textures needed.
Dremora Markynaz Armor
- Rebalanced around CC daedric mail light armor.
- Helmet was reduced by 4 AR from heavy vanilla daedric helmet. Daedric mail from CC seems to follow this pattern so I just followed suit.
Infantry Armor
- Light version was added to OWL leather lists and rebalanced according to vanilla leather armor guidelines.
- Heavy version was added to OWL iron lists and rebalanced according to vanilla iron armor guidelines.
- Added to outfit lists as well
- I know the light helmet still just looks like iron, but I don't want to mismatch the armor set materials and keywords too much.
Pulcharmsolis
Rihad Swordsman Set
- Sword was rebalanced around vanilla steel swords and added to OWL Alikr one-handed lists.
- Shield was rebalanced around vanilla hide shields and added to OWL hide shield lists.
- Tempering recipes adjusted to mirror hide and steel equivalents.
- Crafting recipes also adjusted inline with this philosophy, with the added condition that you have to start the quest "In My Time of Need" for the recipes to show up.
Colovian Prince Set
- The axe was added to OWL war axe records and rebalanced around vanilla steel axes.
- Added warm keyword to the coat and reduced gold value to 100.
- The coat was included all outfit records except the simple steel plate one.
Armors of the Velothi Pt. I
- Chitin Light Armor: Redoran Watchman, Redoran Exile, Indoril Wayfarer, and Ashlander Seer.
- Chitin Heavy Armor: Rhino Beetle.
- Bonemold Armor: Narsis Watchman, Hlaalu Remnant, and Bonepriest(Blue variant included).
- Only bonemold armor has outfit records so only those sets were integrated into OWL outfit records.
- Kept original stats of ashlander seer set and bonepriest sets, the rest where rebalanced according to their respective placement.
Misc Patches:
Sexier Vanilla Guards:
- Don't be fooled by the name; It's not a skimpy mod. Really good lore friendly guard replacer.
- Fixed a few conflicts and integrated it's outfit records into OWLs framework.
Do note that using multiple OWL patches will most likely lead to conflicts and need resolving in xEdit. The main OWL page has an article on how to make a bashed patch and synthesis patch which theoretically should resolve most conflicts. Or you could go through and make your own manual patch as I did. I considered uploading one here that uses all the mods in the page but most people won't be downloading every armor on here.
Done adding mods for now. If you want something added feel free to request in the comments. I basically just added stuff I'm using in my own setup, but I don't mind adding patches for other armor mods; making patches is actually kind of relaxing. Anyways happy modding!
