What?

Patches for Sacrilege, Sacrosanct, and Scion to use Dynamic Activation Key to Feed (or Drain) when playing as a Vampire. Hold the hotkey to feed. Simple!

Why?

If you've used my mod Just Knock or other DAK mods, this follows the same logic. Pop-up menus have been removed in favor of a simple gameplay loop; press the key to feed.

How does it work?

To completely avoid pop-up menus, some gameplay changes were necessary.
The activate text or icon will change color to indicate Lethal actions, such as Drain from Sacrosanct. (If using OII, it is a unique color and not pure red. For those curious, it is #f43251.)
Otherwise, the gameplay flow and changes made are as follows for each mod - please note that all of the below interactions are with the DAK hotkey held.
Without the key held, Vampirism will now no longer interfere with your unlife activities.

    Sacrilege

Activate sleeping character while Standing > Feed
Activate sleeping character while Sneaking > Drain (lethal)
Activate Charmed/Enthralled character with Hands Lowered > Feed
Activate Charmed/Enthralled character with Hands Raised > Drain (lethal)
Activate Bleeding Out character, in combat, as Orc Vampire> Drain (lethal)

Gameplay Changes:
Battle Hunger: Orcs who use their Racial Vampire Ability to Feed in combat will now always Drain their foes, killing them.

    Sacrosanct

Due to its increased complexity, Sacrosanct follows general rules. If your hands are up, you will perform a lethal Drain when possible. When your hands are down, you will perform a non-lethal Feed when possible. As of version 1.3+, this may be 'overridden' by a variety of mechanics that interact with the Drain feature.

General Gameplay Flow

When interacting with Sleeping, Charmed, or Enthralled targets, you may raise your hands to 'prefer' lethal actions. However, your perks and Thirst level will take precedence - For example, charmed targets can only be Drained if you are Parched or have taken the White Wolf perk.

For Sleeping, Charmed, or Enthralled targets, if you are Parched, lowering your hands will not prevent The Beast from taking control and Draining any targets when you feed. This should all feel intuitive and an appropriate prompt should now always appear when attempting to feed.

Sneaking targets are handled by the new Night Of The Bat perk, which replaces Sense Vitae as the second perk granted from the Blue Blood quest. Both Night Of the Wolf and Night Of The Bat are required to lethally Drain unaware characters from stealth.

Specific perk changes

Sense Vitae Perk: This is now Night Of The Bat. This perk will allow vampires who have taken Night Of the Wolf to Drain targets that are unaware.
Foster Childe Perk: This allows you to Embrace new vampires. To do so, you must now be sneaking with your hands lowered, and the target must be sleeping and eligible.
Blood Knight Perk: When activating an opponent in combat, you will always Feed when the target is healthy but Staggered. If they are Bleeding Out, you can Combat Drain
The Beast / Wassail:  As of version 1.3, this should work intuitively. See above for a simplified explanation of the new conditions this triggers under.

    Scion

No gameplay elements have been changed except that you must hold the key to feed on sleeping or charmed targets.

In 1.4, you can now hold the DAK key to Seduce targets after casting Vampire's Seduction.

Known Issues

Drain Animations may not always play properly with Sacrosanct due to the requirement for 'hands raised.' This is being looked into (I cannot replicate the issue myself, so let me know if you can pin it down to a mod conflict or something else.)

Compatibility

It should be compatible with most other mods for Sacrilege and Sacrosanct, as it only changes the Feeding Mechanics Perk. Since the Scion patch touches the vanilla perk, it may have more conflicts but I have yet to encounter any.

All of these patches support Oblivion Interaction Icons but will live here for simplicity’s sake.

The mod will, unless otherwise stated, be safe to update between versions. I try to only change existing fields in perks to prevent discontinuity.

An updated YOT-style patch for Sacrilege 2.1.0 is available in installer. There wasn’t any overlap, really, but it was needed due to the racial ability changes in 2.1.0 and I wanted to rewrite the majority of the prompts anyways. If there’s any permissions issues let me know.

Requirements

Dynamic Activation Key by jayserpa (D’oh!) - Works with Papyrus or DLL version, shouldn’t matter.
Oblivion Interaction Icons (only) if you would like the 'Feed' interaction to be an icon as shown in screenshots.

One of the following:
Sacrosanct by EnaiSiaion - Still has some amazing roleplaying features other overhauls lack.
Sacrilege, also by EnaiSiaion - A ‘lite’ Sacrosanct following the same progression logic. My personal favorite.
Scion by SimonMagus & SoftestRodvt - A great option if you prefer a smoother vanilla-style experience.

Alternatives

Vampire Feeding Tweaks (For Scion or Vanilla vampires, it works fantastically and I highly recommend it. However, I don't recommend this with Sacrosanct due to feature overlap. )
For Better Vampires: Better Vampires DAK patch ; Raziell74 has an updated version here (with OII support - thanks!)

Recommendations

For testing or for starting games as a Vampire: Become a Vampire - Anytime (It just works!)

Notes

The “names” such as Unaware Prey are due to a vanilla limitation on passing names through perks. Anything you can feed on in this mod is named Prey - This is simple enough to change in xEdit, but I am open to suggestions for other ‘vibes’ for various playthrough styles. Drop a comment if you have an idea!

Vampire Feeding Tweaks fits best as a complement for users of Scion, in my opinion. Sacrosanct includes a Sneak Feeding feature that would overlap, and Sacrilege includes various gameplay options for each race such that the new feed methods aren't strictly necessary. I may try a Sacrilege + VFT mashup if I find the lack of feeding options restrictive while playing.

Huge thanks to UESP for their work in hosting the CK wiki clone. The Conditions page is what made version 1.3's seamless functionality possible.

Thanks to all of the authors whose work this mod builds on!
