About this mod

Equip map as a held item (SE port from Skyrim Mod)

Requirements
Permissions and credits
Description:
This mod allows you to craft (at tanning rack with quill, inkwell, and leather) an equip-able map.  The map will use Skyrim's texture for the table maps, so it is recommended you download an alternative texture for it.  I recommend my Immersive Topographic War Map as it is geographically accurate for navigating perposes.  NOTE: This mod utilizes how shields work in game (and sits in a shield spot) so you have to hold 'block' to bring the map up into view, and if you're in VR if you don't hold the map up or it'll be translucent.  You can craft any of the following.  Some (like treasure maps) of them you have to find in game first:
*Map of Skyrim's Holds
*Map of Solstheim
*Treasure maps
*Forsworn map
*Map of Dragon Burials
*Shipping Map

This is a port of the original Skyrim mod "Equip-able Maps" (< check this page if you want to know more about this mod, but come back here if you need support!) by ScarabMonkey (who received help from kellpossible ).  The conversion was done by reddit user u/hicsuntdracones-.  While I did get permission from both of them to post the mod you should post here for support.  While this mod will work in Skyrim SE, it was converted with the intention of increasing immersion in the VR version (works awesome!), and the screenshots were taking in the VR version.

In Game:
Find a quill, inkwell, one leather, and then a tanning rack.  The maps will be available under "Misc".  After crafting they'll be equitable from the "Apparel" section of your inventory.

If you don't want to have to go to the trouble of finding the inkwell/quill/leather put these in the console:
player.additem 0004C3C6 1
player.additem 0004C3C8 1

player.additem 000DB5D2 1

It's recommended you replace the original map texture.  There are many mods that have been created for Oldrim, and they should work as long as you're only installing a texture, and not any sort of map overhaul mod.  Download your map mod, extract it and manually put the "Textures" folding into your Skyrim Special Edition (or SkyrimVR) Data folder.  Reports say that HQ Skyrim map by Paddyy works well, and there's Skyrim SE supported ExE Boss's Mods - Topographic Map (less immersive but extensively accurate), but when I used this one there was some normal-map problems and it has too much "glare".  This mod utilizes how shields work in game (and sits in a shield spot) so you have to hold block to bring the map up into view, and if you're in VR if you don't hold the map up or it'll be translucent.

Installation:
Please note I will not be giving general support on how to enable and use mods.  There are other (better) places to get that information.
Now then, simply download with your favorite mod management program (Vortex/MO2/NMM), or for manual installation (be sure you've enabled mods, google it), drop the contents of the extracted file into the Data directory within Skryim Special Edition (or Skyrim VR if that's what you're using) and add the .esm to your plugins.txt.
