About this mod
This mod let's you change the difficulty multipliers, namely the damage done by the player and the damage done to the player. You could also download one of the presets, which will work immediately. Otherwise you can edit all of the difficulty values easily via SSEEdit.
- Permissions and credits
For Skyrim there were a lot of mods that either changed the damage multipliers or let you customize them. Sadly, SKSE and with that SkyUI are not done yet for the special edition. Due to this we can't have fancy menus that allow you to customize the difficulty settings on the fly in SkyUI. The only way to do it is by downloading a preset or changing the values in your skyrim.esm. This is why I created this template containing all the settings set to default. This way all you have to do is open SSEEdit and change them in the mod .esp. I've also made presets for the people who just want realistic harder difficulties (bottom of the page).
If you want more realism, love the abuse of legendary, to turn yourself into a god or have a specific idea of how difficulty should be handled in Skyrim, then this mod is for you.
Tutorial
1. Download the modfile of your choosing. (if you're happy with a preset you're done now. The following steps are for the people who want to customize them.
2. Install it in your preferred modmanager.
3. Launch SSEEdit
4. Select 'skyrim.esm', 'update.esm' and this mod (probably located at the bottom)
4. After loading it open the CustomisedDifficulty esp. It should now look like this:
5. Those variables are the damage multipliers. This is what they mean:
Damage the player receives
Novice: fDiffMultHPToPCVE
Apprentice: fDiffMultHPToPCE
Adept: fDiffMultHPToPCN
Expert: fDiffMultHPToPCH
Master: fDiffMultHPToPCVH
Legendary: fDiffMultHPToPCL
Damage the player deals out
Novice: fDiffMultHPByPCVE
Apprentice: fDiffMultHPByPCE
Adept: fDiffMultHPByPCN
Expert: fDiffMultHPByPCH
Master: fDiffMultHPByPCVH
Legendary: fDiffMultHPByPCL
6. When you try to edit a value you might get a scary warning like this:
Don't worry, just press 'Yes, I'm absolutely sure'. It won't make any changes to your Skyrim.esm or Update.esm!
7. Now you can change the values to whatever you want. Have fun!
Important Note
Edit ONLY the values of the CustomisedDifficulty.esp. DO NOT edit the values of your Update.esm. Also, don't worry about the colours. This mod is compatible with everything that doesn't change the way difficulty is handled in game. To make sure this mod overwrites any changes to the values by any other mod, just place it low in your load order. If you have a problem or aren't sure about something, just ask it in the comments. I'd rather answer a question than have you be confused about how this mod works. :D
Presets
True difficulty
This preset changes the damage done by the player multipliers of expert, master and legendary to the same as the damage done to the player. This way you can die quickly, but are also just as deadly, which adds a new feel to combat in Skyrim.
Fair difficulty
This preset is the same as true difficulty, but tones it down a little so you aren't just as strong as the enemies. Instead of the damage dealt and damage received multipliers being equal it changes the damage dealt to about 33% less than the damage received. This adds the fairness of true difficulty whilst still requiring you to be strategic.
