Warning! Potential Spoilers Below!

Saadia - Time of Need is a mod that expands Saadia's role in Skyrim. If you side with Saadia during her questline, you may obtain proof of her innocence, and she will become available as a potential Follower, Steward, Spouse, and Traveling Merchant. In addition, the "Sultry" voice type follower dialogue will now use the corresponding "Sultry" voice files, so Saadia and other "Sultry" voice type followers that use the default follower system will use their normal voice when following you.

Important Note: A new save file may be required if you have ever made contact with Saadia, causing her to load into your game at least once.

Important Note: This mod requires the Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch, as it corrects a number of issues with Saadia, her quest, and other records the mod alters. The Unofficial Patch provided a sound base from which to build this mod on.

Vision for Saadia - Time of Need

There are still a number of things I want to change in Skyrim. Some of these gravitated together to work perfectly in the form of this mod:

1 - Saadia is an awesome NPC, with a cool backstory and quest that just abruptly ends. I wanted to give her an expanded role after her quest completed.

2 - I could never stand the lack of "Sultry" follower dialogue, and did not like other mods in their entirety that resolved this. I wanted a simple solution for the "Sultry" follower dialogue.

3 - I wanted a Cook / Merchant / Food Vendor  that I could relocate (by using My Home is Your Home) into one of my Manor Houses. To sell me food, buy my loot, and offer general immersion.

This mod gives Saadia an expanded role, changes the follower dialogue she uses, expands on her merchant abilities, and lets her buy and sell anywhere in the world.

Mod does the following:

If you side with Saadia during her questline:

1 - During her questline you may discover proof of her innocence on Kematu.

2 - The different ends of her questline will have a small amount of further vanilla voiced dialogue to transition her into an expanded role in Skyrim.

3 - After her questline, Saadia will become a potential Follower, using Skyrim's default follower system.

4 - After her questline, Saadia will become a potential Steward.

5 - After her questline, Saadia will become a potential Spouse.

6 - After her questline, if you take her out of the Bannered Mare, Saadia will be able to sell her goods anywhere in the world, and her inventory will be slightly expanded. (Food / Drinks / Basic Potions)

7 - After her questline, if you take her out of the Bannered Mare, her buy list will increase to include many more items.

8 - After her questline, if you take her out of the Bannered Mare, she will have more gold on hand to make purchases from you.

9 - Saadia will benefit from the Merchant Gold Perk, if you obtain it, both in her expanded merchant role as well as her existing one.

10 - Later in the game, you may discover further proof of Saadia's innocence at the Thalmor Embassy.

Note: Her new Merchant Role may not be available immediately. Give her some time to get her affairs in order!

Note: If Saadia returns to the Bannered Mare, either following you or returned to her service there, she will take up her ruse again and will revert back to the Bannered Mare's buy and sell list, as well as their available vendor gold. When she leaves the Bannered Mare, she will resume her new Merchant role again. This will happen each time this happens, and the transition between the two may or may not delay her offerings. When you switch jobs, you need time to get things organized!

If you side with Kematu during her questline:

1 -
Later in the game, you may discover proof of Saadia's innocence at the Thalmor Embassy. Whoops!

Regardless of who you side with during her questline:

1 - Saadia's NPC build has been altered slightly to allow her to venture out as a follower if you side with her. Changes are noted in the "Saadia's Stats" section below.

2 - All "Sultry" voiced followers will now use "Sultry" voice type dialogue while following. These are vanilla voice and lip files that have been re-purposed and reused.

Note: All vanilla and mod followers that use "Sultry" voice type and Skyrim's default follower system should benefit from these voice changes.

Note: If a follower uses another follower system, or if a mod alters the default follower system or it's dialogue, some or all voice changes may not apply to that follower.

Note: If you make them followers with a mod, Valerica and Astrid use a unique voice type, and will not work with these changes, even if they sound like they should.

Saadia - Time of Need is a vanilla friendly, and lore friendly mod, and as such does not do the following:

1 - Mod does not make Saadia an ultra elite warrior. Saadia is, or was, from a Noble House. (This does not mean she isn't capable!)

2 - Mod does not give her commonly added follower perks such as Lightfoot. (She is from a Noble House, not an Assassin's school.)

3 - Mod does not modify Saadia's appearance, face, or body, in order to keep her inline aesthetically with Vanilla Skyrim.

4 - Mod does not give Saadia any extra gear, with the exception of a torch she can use during her questline, or for future adventuring. (Pickpocket loot changed to pickpocket gold, to prevent the loot from showing up in her Merchant sales.)

5 - Mod does not allow you to invest in her store, as she does not actually own a store.

6 -
Saadia will buy an expanded range of items from you, but these do not include items such as Weapons, Armor, Staffs, Daedric Items...etc. (She is one person, that cooks, she won't accept a dozen sets of Bandit armor and Iron Swords from your latest adventure!) Details below in the "Saadia's Merchant Stats" section on her new buy and sell lists.

Saadia's NPC Stats

Responsibility: No Crimes (Unchanged)

Assistance: Helps Friends and Allies (Changed from Allies. She is a little less guarded now that you helped her.)

Aggression: Unaggressive (Unchanged)

Confidence: Brave (Changed from Average. She publicly spoke out against the Aldmeri Dominion. She is brave.)

Combat Style: csHumanMissle (Changed from none. Gives her a higher chance of bow use to keep her back out of direct combat.)

Class: Custom Combat Food Vendor (Changed from Food Vendor. Will level more in Health, Marksman, Stamina, One-Handed, Sneak, Light Armor, Block, Speechcraft, Alchemy, and Enchanting, in that order.)

Skills: Adjusted. (Base strengths from high to low: Marksman, One-Handed, Sneak, Light Armor, Block, Speechcraft, Alchemy.)

Mortality: Protected (Changed from Mortal. Protected means only you should be able to cause a final deathblow.)

Leveling: Saadia will now level with the player from level 4 to level 50. (Changed from a static level 4 NPC)

Saadia's Merchant Stats

Saadia will continue to buy and sell items with the following keywords whenever she is in the Bannered Mare (Vanilla settings):

VendorItemFood
VendorItemFoodRaw

Available Vendor Gold:   100g~

Saadia will buy the items with the following keywords wherever she is, except while in the Bannered Mare:

VendorItemFood
VendorItemFoodRaw
VendorItemIngredient
VendorItemPotion
VendorItemAnimalHide
VendorItemFireword (Not my mistake, actually in the game files :)
VendorItemGem
VendorItemBook
VendorItemAnimal Part
VendorItemRecipe
VendorItemClutter
VendorItemSoulGem
VendorItemTool
VendorItemScroll
VendorItemSpellTome
VendorItemPoison

Available Vendor Gold fluctuates each respawn, but has a base value of 750g~

Saadia WILL NOT buy or sell items with the following keywords at any time:

VendorItemArmor
VendorItemWeapon
VendorItemOreIngot
VendorItemClothing
VendorItemJewelry
VendorItemArrow
VendorItemStaff
VendorItemDaedricArtifact
VendorItemKey
VendorNoSale

Note: It's a lucrative business being in the Dragonborn's good graces and being able to buy and sell their loot, hence the increased buy / sell list, and larger amount of available vendor gold.

Note: Saadia will generally sell only Food, Drinks, Salt and a few basic Potions. She will however resell back to you anything you sold her, so long as it's before her Merchant Container resets with new stock... for an extra fee of course!

Compatibility:

1 - Modifies Saadia Directly (FormID: 00013BA2) Allows her to function in her newly expanded role.

2 - Modifies Kematu Directly (FormID: 21601) Adds evidence in the form of a letter. (Note: This is the only record altered by the "Just a note" version)

3 - Modifies the MS08 Quest "In My Time of Need" (FormID: 0001CF25) Allowing her to become a Follower, Steward, or Spouse upon completion.

4 - Modifies the MS08 script "QF_MS08_0001CF25". Allowing her to become a Follower, Steward, or Spouse upon completion.

5 - Modifies the dialogue for the MS08 quest. (Various) Allowing her to become a Follower, Steward, or Spouse upon completion.

6 - Modifies the dialogue for Followers. (Various) Allowing Saadia and other "Sultry" followers to speak all "Sultry" voiced dialogue when they are following.

7 - Modifies dialogue for Inn Servers. (FormID: 000DEE85) This line now excludes Saadia so she can use custom lines for variation.

8 - Modifies dialogue comments for WIAddItemSayToPlayer (Various) Prevents the various "You just find that lying around?" lines from playing while buying from Saadia.

Note: This mod does not modify any leveled lists, but uses a number of them along with custom lists to populate Saadia's Merchant Inventory. If you have a mod that alters the following leveled lists, it will modify Saadia's Merchant Inventory as well: LitemFoodSalt75, LitemPotionCureHMS, LitemPotionRestoreHMS, VendorGoldInn, VendorGoldMisc, VendorGoldApothecary, VendorGoldStreetVendor, PerkMasterTraderGold, LootGoldChange, and CoinPurseGoldLarge.
