WHAT IS THIS?

This mod adds Apprentice-, Adept- and Expert-level versions of vanilla concentration spells - Flames, Frostbite, Sparks, Healing and Healing Hands.

The vanilla spells remain untouched, this mod simply adds several new ones.

These upgraded spells are visually and mechanically identical to their vanilla counterparts. The only difference is the magicka costs and damage/heal rate, which use the stats of the fire-and-forget spells of their level: Firebolt, Ice Spike, Lightning Bolt and Fast Healing for Apprentice level (skill 25); Close Wounds and Heal Other for Adept level (skill 50)Incinerate, Icy Spear and Thunderbolt for Expert level (skill 75).

What is the point of these new spells?

The intent is for these spells to fill the niche for mid- to late-game close-range "spray and pray" damage dealers and concentration healing respectively. I think the spells should be relatively balanced in relation to their fire-and-forget vanilla counterparts, but please let me know how they play in practice, particularly the Expert-tier ones.

How do I obtain these spells in-game?

Unlike most spell mods, the tomes for these new spells have not been added to any vendor or leveled lists.

Instead the tomes for these spells are obtained by converting a tome of their vanilla counterpart at a tanning rack, or by upgrading a lower-level tome with some ingredients (see next section). The option will only show up at the rack as long as you have the relevant tome in your inventory, so it doesn't clutter up your crafting list unnecessarily. (If you download the optional Campfire patch, you can also convert the tomes in its Create Item crafting menu.)

Potent Flames - 25 dmg/s, costs 41 mana/s (base)
Apprentice-strength version of Flames. Concentration counterpart of Firebolt.

COMPATIBILITY AND MISC

Definitely compatible:

If you use a spell mod that modifies the availability of vanilla spell tomes, you may have trouble obtaining these spells without console commands. But otherwise, this mod should be compatible with almost(?) everything, as these spells are implemented as separate spells, use vanilla magic effects, and do not replace any vanilla spells. This mod also does not edit vendor or leveled lists.

There is a patch in Optional Files to change the name of the spell tomes to be in line with the naming convention of Spell Tome Sorting, or you can use the xEdit script KeiZero provides with STS to generate your own.

Also in Optional Files is a patch for Campfire by Chesko, which lets you also upgrade/convert tomes in Campfire's Create Item menu.

Finally, the Vokrii compatibility patch is so that the new Restoration spells are affected by its Eternal Flame (90) perk. If you don't care about this (the effect is fairly negligible for concentration spells), it's safe to ignore.
