A really basic overhaul for better balanced vanilla vampire players (no scripts, no special requirements).

This is an old, very barebone vampire overhaul that makes simple - but reasonable - changes to the base stats and names of vampire player's abilities and the likes. It is (was) intended as an extremely lightweight alternative to the way more complex vampire overhauls around, aimed at improving what's already on the vanilla game without ever drastically changing anything. It might see a renewal sometimes down the line, so... stay tuned!

Here's the list of changes:

  • Trait - Resist Frost
  • now named "Cold Touch "
  • scaling nerfed to 10/20/30/40% frost resistance from vanilla 20/30/40/50%
  • new feature: frost spells are now 10/15/20/25% more powerful
  • Trait - Weakness to Fire
  • now named "Quelled by Fire "
  • scaling buffed to 15/35/55/75% fire weakness from vanilla 20/30/40/50%
  • new feature: fire spells are now 25/30/35/40% less powerful

  • Spell - Vampiric Drain
  • Absorb Health magnitude buffed to 5/10/15/20 from vanilla 2/3/4/5
  • Absorb Magicka/Stamina buffed to 2/5/7/10 from vanilla 2/3/4/5
  • Spell - Vampire Servant
  • Level cap buffed to 8/16/27/40 from Vanilla 6/13/21/30
  • Duration buffed to 60/75/90/105 seconds from vanilla 60/60/60/60 seconds

  • Effect - Champion of the Night
  • Illusion boost nerfed to 20% from Vanilla 25%
  • Effect - Resist Poison
  • now named "Undead Being"
  • magnitude nerfed to 35% poison resistance from vanilla 100%
  • new feature: healing spells are now 35% less effective

  • Game mechanics - Necromage perk*
  • more fitting description: "All spells are more effective if targeting undead."
  • effects on the player nerfed to +20% spell magnitude (from vanilla +25%) and +25% spell duration (from vanilla +50%)


*needless to say - if you use the USSEP, remove/don't install other Necromage Perk unfix, as they would - partly - defeat the very purpose of this mod!

I always found the 'Necromage Vampire trick' fairly interesting and far from being the demonized glitch that's known for; sure, it gives Vanilla Vampire WAY too much power, but this is exactly the reason behind this mod: trying to bringing some balance without deleting the interation altogether, while remaining as simple and Vanilla as possible. You may notice that the 'Vampire Lord' form remained untouched: I didn't have the time to tackle that when I made this mod, neither it would be of use now, 3 years later. I will probably redo this from scratch when the time will allow it tho!
