The Giant Lichen is probably one if the least noticed plants in all of Skyrim. First they are in a Chaurus infested Swamp, located near a town with no reason to ever go! (unless you have Bijin NPCs installed) They are an ugly greenish grey, just perfect for blending in and never being noticed. When you do see one you not sure if it a rock with a bad texture or a piece of weird leather.

Well as always, Mari to the rescue with her wonderful Giant Lichen HD retexture. It's what I have installed and in mind when making this. Seriously, there is a reason there is only one retexture of the Giant lichen, because it's that good.

So, what the problem? Mari's mod is for LE, It's meshes need to be cleaned, not a big deal if you know how to do it.  It makes the recolored vanilla Giant Lichen added by CACO look even worse by contrast.  She also added a glow map, furthering the divide even more.

This is where my caveman club comes in.

First step is to download Mari's rextexture.(Delete the mesh folder) That will get you gorgeous vanilla Giant Lichen retexture and the CACO installed ones will benefit from the much improved normal maps, giving them a bit of depth. Your Skyrim\Giant Lichen immersion will be at 85%!!! What about the last 15%???

5% more immersion can be gained by installing my mod, enabling CACO's Giant Lichen to use Mari"s Glow map. So If you only hang out in vampire infested swamps at night you wont notice the last 10%. Your done, but for the rest of you that want total Giant Lichen Immersion, your gonna have to work a bit for it. 

I have provided instructions on how to convert Mari's textures to your exact liking, for The CACO added Giant Lichen in the included readme file. 


Requirements-

Complete Alchemy and Cooking Overhaul by Kryptopyr

Without this, the New Giant Lichen won't be added to you game so, there is nothing to replace.


Paint.net 

If you want to modify your textures, following the instructions in the readme.


Technically that's It , you can can use vanilla textures and a black and white photo of your grandmother as the glow map and my mod will work, but for best results you will want a retexture that includes glow maps. Hint: there is only one, but if you know of another one it should work with it also, as long as it uses the vanilla file structure/texture format.


Installation-

Install CACO and all its related patches for your load order

Install my mod. (I included a blank glow map so the whole Lichen doesn't glow if you don't install glow maps)

Install Giant Lichen by Mari (delete the LE mesh folder, SE mesh is included in this mod)

Tweak your textures to match the new glow and your liking.(how close you get to 100% Giant Lichen immersion is up to you.)



Load Order -

CACO 

This mod (includes a blank glow map to keep the whole plant from glowing Mari's mod must be below this one to overwrite it)

Mari's mod (delete the meshes folder and place below this mod)




Uninstall-

Just uncheck the box and click remove mod.

Safe to install/uninstall at any time.
