Note: Version 2.0 is simply a modder's resource with an example patch for Nordic UI. All known bugs from the original are gone, as are obsolete or extraneous patches. If you would like to make a patch using these resources I'd be happy to host it or link it below.
Description This is more of a resource than a mod, but functions as a 'patch' as released. It's a library of button art using the Sovngarde font, with all PC and XB1 + PS4 Gamepad assets aligned in pre-existing files and (with some exceptions) properly kerned. Included in the installer is a replacement button art file (suitable for any UI overhaul using SkyUI) as well as Dynamic Interface Patcher patches for Nordic UI.
Why? Again, it's mostly a resource. I wanted a button art file I could use for any future work without worrying about alignment, transparency, wrong glyphs, etc. All PC keys and gamepad buttons have a distinct glyph (there is now one for each arrow key, for example, whereas the original used the same straight line for about 6 glyphs.) All drop shadows have been removed and all vanilla button art has 0 transparency so alignment will remain consistent. If you would like to use it for your own mod - please do! Just read the permissions section first.
Requirements SkyUI to use the main buttonart.swf file. Nordic UI for the patched menus Sovngarde font replacer (not required, technically.)
Will you patch X? Nope. This is purely a resource and any changes made will be to fix issues with the container files or already included proof-of-concept patch. However, I've included resources to do it yourself as well as some tips below. Do feel free to comment if you have questions on implementing any of the assets for your own mods.
Compatibility The buttonart.swf file will override any other mod that's changed it, depending on load order. These buttons were designed to match Nordic UI but can easily be used with vanilla menus as they use the same black and grey color scheme.
Permissions Per the Sovngarde font's original permissions, it can be used in anything except for mods which earn DP or are sold for money. Therefore it follows that the buttonart.swf files included in this download are subject to those permissions. However, if you replace all of the assets inside buttonart.swf use in your own mod, you can use the container file itself however you like as long as you credit me.
Nordic UI has open permissions for its art assets as of time of release so menus and assets from that mod retain their open permissions.
Notes for Mod Authors
Glyph files
In the optional downloads you can find a complete library of asset files to work off of in .svg format. They are named after the physical keys, not the corresponding shapes in buttonart.swf. My recommendation for workflow is to design a frame and adapt it to each numbered asset, then place your glyphs on them in a consistent font size. Do note that you must convert the text to a shape before importing to JPEXS, and probably export the whole file to .emf if working in CS. Check buttonart.swf from SkyUI or the buttonart.fla from SkyUI's Source to see which glyph is which.
Patching Menus
Several SkyUI menus do not reflect changes made in buttonart.swf. Check the included patch to see which. For these, simply import (replace bounds) the corresponding glyph - you can use the same one from the buttonart.swf file. Make sure to set all Matrix options to 0 if alignment is incorrect.
Tools
Just about anything you can think of can be done with Inkscape and JPEXS. There are minor issues like gradient transparency with using these tools, but they're good enough for most of the UI mods you see here.
