About

While mods that overhaul towns are great, they often add a multitude of new, generic NPCs who use the same generic comments with no spice or flavor. What's more is that these characters have much potential for immersive backstories, but they act as filler content. With the release of xVASynth2, however, these new NPCs can now be voiced in a lore-friendly manner.

This mod does just that, adding new dialogue branches to the generic NPCs of Arthmoor's Rorikstead and JK's Rorikstead. Much of the dialogue is quest aware and adds some lore to these characters that was otherwise absent. For users of More To Say, many new lines are either quest-aware or quest-exclusive, with your choices having an affect on the town. Abramcf did amazing work on that mod, so be sure to leave them your endorsements.

Feature List

Arthmoor's Rorikstead Module

- Various new dialogue branches for Argisbjorn Hammer-Hand and his wife, Elisia.
- One new average-level persuasion check for Argisbjorn (asking him about his backstory).
- Two new branches for Gunjar Hairy-Legs.
- New generic comments for Brinteril Mollad.
- If using the JK's Rorikstead Integration Patch, Argisbjorn and Elisia will make mention of Cedric, Grenver, Reyana, and Ingol.
- If using the More To Say Integration Patch, Argisbjorn, Elisia and Gunjar will have new branches for the quest The Secret of Rorikstead,
as well as post quest comments. Elisia will also comment on the quests Lemkil's Lament, Sissel's Book, and Honorhall Delivery.

JK's Rorikstead Module

- One new dialogue branch for Cedric the trader, along with generic comments.
- One new branch for Ingol Strong-Arm, along with generic comments (although they are really taunts).
- Two new branches for Reyana Wintersun, the baker.
- Two new branches for Grenver Wintersun, the butcher and archer. He is also now a common-level Archery trainer and can give you tips for surviving in the wild.
- If using the More To Say integration patch for this module, Grenver, Reyana, and Ingol will have new branches for the quest The Secret of Rorikstead. After the quest, Reyana and Cedric will have slightly different dialogue, depending on the outcome.

More To Say Module

- Much player dialogue has been rewritten for more depth, with new dialogue prompts depending on who is listening to you. It is not technically required for the integration modules to work, but adds more flavor. This is personal preference. You can easily rewrite player dialogue by using SSEEdit (xEdit).
- Corrects a typo of Redguard for MS08 (In My Time of Need)
- Alters dialogue conditions during The Secret of Rorikstead for Erik, Mralki, and Rorik.

Requirements

1. Arthmoor's Rorikstead - If using the Arthmoor's Rorikstead Module. This overhaul requires USSEP, even though my mod does not have USSEP as a master file in any of its plugins.

2. JK's Skyrim - If using the JK's Rorikstead Module.

3. JK's Skyrim - Arthmoor's Rorikstead Patch - If using both Arthmoor's Rorikstead and JK's Skyrim and the appropriate modules for each. This file is found in the miscellaneous files section of the JK's Skyrim page, labeled "Arthmoor's Patch Pack".

4. More To Say - If using the More To Say integration patch (Highly Recommended). For users of the all-in-one merged version of More To Say, please download the appropriate patch.

Compatibility

This mod adds new dialogue for generic NPCs who previously had none. With this philosophy, NPC edits are minimal for compatibility with a majority of other mods you may use. For the JK's Skyrim module, however, there is an exception: both Grenver Wintersun and Ingol Strong-Arm have some minor edits. If you use an overhaul for these NPCs like Modpocalypse NPCs, a patch has been provided in the miscellaneous files section.

The More To Say modules are also optional, as your game should not break if they are not installed when using both mods. However, they are highly recommended to receive new quest-aware comments and dialogue branches.

Known Issues

Race-specific dialogue conditions (using Subject.GetPCisRace function) are wonky and sometimes do not fire, though this needs more testing. Please let me know if you encounter such issues.

It should also be mentioned that generated dialogue lines using xVASynth can sometimes sound robotic or un-humanlike, which is a technological limitation. I have tried to reduce this effect where I can, but it may still erk you. If that is the case, send me suggestions on how it can be improved. In the future, I may look to enlist the help of an actual voice actor, which would be grand.

Future Plans

I plan to improve/extend the dialogue for other mods or creations. If you have any recommendations on unvoiced mods that could use some xVA Magic, please let me know in the comments or send me a PM.

You are free to re-release, translate, or otherwise modify this mod as you see fit and publish it as long as you give credit where it is due!

Install/Uninstall
Mods in this series are designed to be highly modular. As such, many different plugins are offered. Please make sure you are downloading the right versions, as there are different files for users of More To Say Merged Version or Standalone. Do NOT attempt to use both More To Say AIO and More To Say standalone. You have been warned.

The new dialogue quests use the Start Game Enabled flag, so a new game is recommended. (Though a current save may still be fine... I am not responsible for you breaking your game by not heeding instructions)

Please make sure you have the appropriate patches in the correct load order. If you are using most of the modules/patches, your load order will look something like this:

Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch.esp
JK's Skyrim.esp
Rorikstead.esp
JK's Skyrim_Rorikstead_Patch.esp
moretosayrorikstead.esp (or MoreToSay.esp, for all-in-one users)
ImprovedDialogue-JKsRorikstead.esp
ImprovedDialogue-ArthRorikstead.esp
ImprovedDialogue-ArthRorikstead-JKs.esp
ImprovedDialogue-MTSRorikstead.esp (or ImprovedDialogue-MTSRoriksteadAIO.esp for all-in-one users)
ImprovedDialogue-MTSRorikstead-JKs.esp (or ImprovedDialogue-MTSRoriksteadAIO-JKs.esp for all-in-one users)
ImprovedDialogue-MTSRorikstead-Arth.esp (or ImprovedDialogue-MTSRoriksteadAIO-Arth.esp for all-in-one users)
