Description:

So, there are a number of mods out there that allow you to craft scrolls. But what if you want to play a character who neither uses magic, nor bows, no followers, and you want to complete the main quest? Right, you have to wait while those bloody dragons would deign to land their precious rump on to the ground.

This mode provides you both opportunities: to craft the scrolls using your deep knowledge of witchcraft or to purchase them for gold.

For this purpose I have added 2 objects to the game:

"Arcane table" - where you can craft your scrolls;

"Scroll chest" - you can purchase scroll from their;

To craft a scroll you will need the following:

- to know corresponding spell; You won't be able to craft a scroll if you have a spell tome or a scroll, but do not know that spell. My philosophy here is that your character needs to have an understanding of how this or that spell works to craft a scroll. So, you need to learn a spell first. As for copying scrolls if you do not understand how a spell works there is a big chance to make a mistake when copying it or smth like that;

 - have a filled soul gem; size of the soul gem depends on the spell level (Novice, Apprentice, etc)
 - have a roll of paper;
 - have inkwell;
 - and a quill. A Quill is not consumed, you just need to have one in your inventory.

- and you will need to invest a perk in the Enchantment tree

You will get 5 scrolls per receipt.

Additional crafting recipes:

- you can craft paper rolls from ruined/burned books as well as from the wood at the arcane table
- you can craft an inkwell out of iron ore, charcoal and tundra cotton at the arcane table
- charcoal can be crafted from wood at the arcane table. Consider this as some sort of transmute spell. I could add this receipt to the smelter which makes more sense, but I would like having all the items required for making scrolls craftable from one workbench.

- you can also smash empty soul gems into soul gem shards and craft any empty soul gem (except for black soul gems) from the shards. The convertation ratio is 1:1. I.e. common soul gem gives you 10 shards, to craft a common soul gem you need 10 shards. It uses soul gem shards model from the Dawnguard DLC.

- you can craft empty black soul gems from empty grand soul gem and daedra hart.

- you can craft bone meal ingredient from human and troll sculls
- you can craft fire/frost/void salts from a salt pile and filled lesser soul gem.

- quills can be found all around Skyrim, plus you can purchase them from the "Scroll chest".

Scroll purchasing:

Well, technically, "Scroll Chest" is a crafting workbench (like smelter for instance). All recipes in this workbench require gold. I also made it so that
scrolls equivalent to Apprentice spells and higher can be purchased only after your character reaches a certain level (exceptions are Apprentice
destruction projectile scrolls and Restoration Fast Healing scroll).

Expert scrolls become available for purchase once you reach level 50.

Scrolls available for crafting/purchasing:

1. This mod does not convert concentration spells into scrolls. It is the limitation of the game. It can be bypassed using some tricks, but I won't do so as I do not think that it is necessary. The only exception is Lightning Storm (Destruction master spell). In original game it is a concentration spell, so there is no master scroll for Lightning at all. I have made a new scroll which is simply a more powerful Lightning Cloak scroll. To craft this one you will need to know the Lightning Storm spell

2. Master spells can be only crafted, but not purchased.

3. Some scrolls are not available for crafting at all. For example, Illusion scrolls or bound weapons scrolls cannot be crafted/purchased at Arcane table/Scroll chest. I may or may not add recipes later.

4. You can retrieve scrolls as you did in vanilla Skyrim: by purchasing them from merchants and finding them in the world. This mod does not change it. Just adds new means to retrieve the scrolls.

Scrolls\spells improvements:

Scrolls magnitude matches magnitude of the corresponding spells. Changes only for the scrolls that are craftable/purchasable from Arcane table/Scroll chest;

Cloak spells has higher magnitude;

Dragonhide spell\scroll has longer duration (60 seconds instead of 30).

Scrolls should now benefit from your magical perks (Destruction/Restoration/Conjuration etc.). Though, I have not tested it properly.*

Locations:

The Arcane tables\Scroll chests can be found at the court mages places in Whiterun, Windhelm, Solitude, Markarth and in the Winterhold College at the second floor of the Hall of Countenance.

Most likely, I will add these to Volkihar castle and Fort Dawnguard and other major cities of Skyrim later on.

Compatibility:

Mods that add new spells/scrolls are compatible, but those scrolls won't be craftable/purchasable at Arcane table\Scroll chest.

Mods that change vanilla spells/scrolls may not be compatible.

Mods that change interiors\nav meshes of Dragonsreach, Blue palace, Understone keep, Palace of the knings, Hall of countenance may not be compatible.

There is a patch for Cloaks of Skyrim SSE mod which adds Spinning wheel in the same place where I put my Arcane table. You can download the patch from the miscellaneous files

Requirements:

Skyrim AE (you do not need all the AE content)
Vokrii - Minimalistic Perks of Skyrim - Hard requirement
Cloaks of Skyrim SSE - Requirement for the patch

Credits:

EnaiSiaion - for making awesome perk overhaul mod (Vokrii)
Author of the marvelous texture replacer:  Cherrywood Dragon Enchanting Table - Resource . I use resource from that mode for the model of the Arcane table. Unfortunately, I do not know the author name as his account seems to be deleted and the mod is taken care of by the Nexus stuff (See the note on the mod page).
