Skyrim's got Balls

Update Version 2.5: I added a new toy for your children: a stuffed pig also made of fine leather (see screenshots). The item was first released as 'modder's resource' by Oaristys for Skyrim LE in his Modder's Resource Pack - The Witcher Extension. I instantly fell in love with the piggy and thought it would fit perfectly to this mod. The model is rescaled, edited and converted to a non-static SE item. I also edited and upscaled the texture. I hope you like the addition.

Finally, the most basic toy for Skyrim's children can be crafted: a simple leather ball. It comes in three different sizes and versions: two rather basic ones stuffed with straw and a more noble one with colored leather and stuffed with cotton. The balls can, of course, be given as a present to your children. They will also appear in the shops of general merchants.
Additionally, the new balls are another simple way to make some money and get some crafting experience early in the game. I decided not to include some staining agents in the crafting recipe of the colored ball, since there is no staining in vanilla Skyrim. However, with V2.0 I included an add-on that replaces the recipe for the colored ball with a recipe with staining agents (salt for bleaching and red & blue mountain flowers and snowberries for coloring). I don't know if that would work in reality, but in the end it's a fantasy game. :) If you like this, download the additional file and install it. It will only overwrite this one recipe.

The model and textures are mostly created from scratch. I also edited the collision sphere and physical properties in the nif to make the balls 'playable' as best as I could. You can actually play football (kind of) and throw them at your followers... :)
The balls can also be used as a modder's resource (as decoration for childrens rooms or whatever). I give permission for that but please cite my original mod.

Version 2.0 has revised nifs and textures. The colored ball is now mid sized to have more variation. The textures are slightly more detailed now, and I also included a 2k version (additional files). However, I see no big difference between the improved 1k and 2k versions. The textures now also have mip maps. This saves video RAM, as I have learned. :) Never payed attention to this before.

Why all this?
There are not many things children can play with in vanilla Skyrim (although there are some leveled lists that were supposed to include all toys as it seems). A few mods add some more craftable toys, yet no balls are added (AFAIK).

Issues?
There should be no issues. However, if you find some just contact me here. I'll see what I can do.

Installation

Copy all files to the data folder, overwriting existing files.
Or better use a mod manager to do this.
Place the mod close to the end of the load order since it edits the merchant lists, but it also works without. It should be placed after Complete Alchemy and Cooking Overhaul and MorrowLoot Ultimate.

Compatibility

The mod should be compatible with most mods. Mods that also edit the merchant lists can cause the balls not to appear in the shops. However, you can still craft and sell them. I also added a version for use with Complete Alchemy and Cooking Overhaul. It carries over all CACO changes and reduces the price of Tundra Cotton to 2 Gold (the price to create the noble ball would be ridiculously high without this change) and apart from that there is no reason for the high CACO price for such an abundant ingredient.

You can also use SSEEdit to create your own patch for a conflicting mod. There is a nice tutorial video how to do that here: How to Make a Patch with TES5edit.

Thanks

Thanks go to Bethesda for creating Skyrim, all modders who keep Skyrim alive, and to the guys who created NIF Skope and SSEEdit.
