I decided to remaster the entire look of the forts, straying from the vanilla Skyrim template, and give it a highly detailed and realistic stony and mossy look. Contains a few UV and mesh fixes, and removed and repurposed the ugly moss/ivy on the forts to appear much more realistic. I 100% recommend using complex parallax on this mod. While not required, textures will look flat and less realistic without.
Installation
Install textures in your desired resolution
(optional) Install parallax meshes
(required for parallax) Install BDS or Simplicity of Snow*
Play!
I would highly recommend installing Skyland's Forts BEFORE this. Skylands' has an .esp that makes the Western watchtower have matching textures before it is broken. It also matches my palette, so any missed textures will look fine. *You don't need SoS parallax meshes, but if you do install them, let my meshes overwrite. If you encounter some issues with the snow on parallax, let SoS meshes overwrite mine. So far I've had no issues, but results may vary.
Parallax and Compatibility If you don't want parallax or don't use ENB, don't install the meshes. If you want parallax, specifically Complex Parallax you need the latest version of ENB, and make sure that EnableComplexParallax=true in your ENBseries.ini Then install the meshes. If you are using WiZkiD's parallax meshes, then either install mine after, or not at all. Not included: Doors, metal, gates and traps. For maximum compatibility.
Notes You may come across some visual inconsistencies such as textures looking warped from a distance, and some "lines" along the forts walls. These are issues with parallax and Skyrim itself. I do not know how to fix them and I do not know of any way around it. So far parallax effect reduces the "squarish" appearance of the forts, so I'd recommend using parallax.
