Using DDF(Dialogue Display Framework), I have created a simple UI change that should work with any recolour mod.
My mod adds a heart display above NPC portraits so that you can check your heart level with them at a glance. This is intended to be used with Farmer Portraits and will look weird without it. There are a few parts that the Farmer Portraits mod adds that I cannot remove without further research, so I apologise for any weird bits.
If you want to make changes to the mod feel free to do so in the content.json
I'm unsure what to put in the blank space above the farmers portrait so let me know if you have any ideas!!
