True Light

I created a ReShade preset that focuses mainly on improving what the game originally offers in terms of light.

So what does it do exactly?
~ Overhauls bloom to work much better and more consistant
~ Light sources are now stronger and more concentrated
~ Darker/deeper colors to reduce gray fog tones in the distance
~ added pixel blurring to limit far super clear details under certain *especially under hard to see* conditions

REQUIREMENT: Use Neutral color grading (you can read down below why)

Installation:

1. Download ReShade 5.4.0+
1.1. Download my preset, extract it in your Subnautica launcher folder.
2. Open ReShade installer .
3. Find Subnautica.exe in the list of applications/games that it has listed for you.
4. Select DirectX 10/11/12
5. It will ask you if you want to download all the shaders by providing my preset file. So click on browse and find my ReShade preset in your Subnautica launcher folder. Then let it download all shaders and click finish.

If it doesn't give you that window to install shaders through a preset then it will ask you to pick shaders manually. Here's the list of shaders that you'll need:

qUINT:
qUINTlightroom.fx

color effects:
pd80_03_Shadows_Midtones_Highlights.fx

Shaders:
EyeAdaptation.fx

FXShaders:
AdaptiveTonemapper.fx
NeoBloom.fx
MagicHDR.fx

6. Open the game. Press [home] keybutton on your keyboard to open ReShade menu.
7. At the top you should see a small window with words written "ReShadePreset". Press on it, it will open up a list of files in your subnautica directory. There you should find my preset that you extracted in step 1.1.
8. At the bottom right click on performance mode and press [home] button again to close the menu.
9. Done.

If these instructions weren't clear enough, you can find a video on installing reshade.

Q&A:
Q: Why don't you just use Filmic tone that is in game ?
A: It messes up the bloom completely, it's more of an after-thought rather than a proper color grading implementation. It also makes the game pitch darkness which most people are not too keen to use due to the game being much more scary.

Q: Why don't you just lower/increase the game brightness ?
A: You can lower the game's brightness but it will automatically lower all brightness and not only shadows which will bring out the issues of light being not at it's highest brightness as it should be. Brightness setting should be used with this preset to customize how dark or bright you want your shadows to be. Whether you like it more scary or less. Think of this as a better filmic tone in color grading.

Q: My game crashes upon following your instructions !!!!!
A: Check any requirements that a ReShade requires for you to have installed. Like .NET Framework 4.6.2 or higher.

Q: Why Neutral color grading?
A: It seems like adding bloom on bloom is not the best idea. So I decided to turn off a certain portion of bloom that brings it down a notch in order for me to bring out light to a custom level and then customize the amount of darkness at the same time. So both of these are now at a custom level without overlapping as much on the game's bloom.
